Halifax Bread is looking for an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Part-Time Bakery Assistant to join our growing production team.

We are passionate about producing exceptional baked goods and are looking for someone who shares our commitment to quality, consistency, and food safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced bakery environment and take pride in creating products they would proudly serve to their own family.

Responsibilities

Prepare and bake cookies, pastries, sweets, cakes, fillings, and desserts according to company recipes and quality standards.
Assist with cake decorating, ensuring every product meets our quality and presentation standards.
Accurately measure and prepare ingredients following company recipes.
Operate commercial ovens, large industrial mixers, depositor machines, and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
Clean and sanitize industrial mixers, depositor machines, ovens, utensils, and production areas in accordance with food safety regulations.
Package finished products for retail and wholesale customers.
Assist with bread production when required.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe production environment.
Follow all company recipes, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety regulations, and sanitation procedures.
Assist with general kitchen duties and support the production team during busy periods.
Provide excellent customer service when assisting customers in the retail area, if required.
Perform other production-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Previous experience working in a commercial or industrial bakery.
Previous experience making cakes, pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
Previous Experience measuring ingredients accurately.
Previous Experience operating commercial ovens.
Knowledge of food handling regulations and food safety practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality products.
A genuine passion for baking and creating exceptional products.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and able to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.

Assets

Experience operating industrial bakery equipment such as large mixers and depositor machines.
Cake decorating experience.
Previous customer service experience.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a warm production environment.

Availability

Must reside within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) due to early morning production shifts.
Must be available to work weekdays and weekends.
Flexible availability is required to meet production demands.
