Position Summary
Dependable Freight Solutions is seeking a motivated and entrepreneurial Trucking Logistics Broker to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing customer accounts, sourcing carrier capacity, and overseeing freight movements from pickup to delivery.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, skilled negotiator, and problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the company’s growth while building long-term relationships with customers and carriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with shippers, customers, and transportation carriers.
- Identify and secure new freight opportunities through prospecting, networking, and business development activities.
- Negotiate freight rates with customers and carriers to maximize profitability while maintaining service excellence.
- Coordinate and manage freight shipments from pickup through final delivery.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers and carriers.
- Resolve transportation issues, service disruptions, and delivery challenges in a timely and professional manner.
- Utilize load boards, transportation management systems (TMS), and industry resources to source carrier capacity.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, carrier agreements, pricing, and customer communications.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to support company growth objectives.
- Continuously build and strengthen a network of reliable carriers and transportation partners.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in freight brokerage, transportation logistics, dispatching, or related transportation services.
- Strong knowledge of trucking operations, freight markets, and logistics processes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management software.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to achieve and exceed performance goals.
Preferred
- Existing network of shipper and carrier relationships.
- Experience with LoadLink, DAT, Truckstop, Highway, or other freight management platforms.
- Knowledge of cross-border freight operations between Canada and the United States.
- Experience working within a 3PL or freight brokerage environment.
