Job Overview
Cowichan Kombucha, is a subsidiary of Fire & Fermentation. We are growing, and we’re looking for the right person to grow with us.
This is a unique, hands-on position that combines kombucha production, customer interaction, farmers’ markets and business growth. We’re a small company, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and isn’t afraid to jump in wherever needed.
We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality, and likes being part of a small business where every day is different.

- Take increasing ownership and responsibility as your skills develop
Who We’re Looking For
You might be a great fit if you are:
- Friendly, confident and comfortable talking with customers
- Hard-working and genuinely enjoy being hands-on
- Independent and able to see what needs doing without constant direction
- Detail-oriented and committed to producing a high-quality product
- Reliable, organized and able to follow established procedures
- Comfortable learning new equipment and processes
- Interested in local food, fermentation, entrepreneurship or small business
- Excited by the idea of helping build a growing Vancouver Island brand
You don’t need previous kombucha or beverage-production experience. Attitude, work ethic, curiosity and the ability to learn are more important to us.
The position does involve physical work, including standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting approximately 40–50 lbs.
A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are preferred. Food Safe Level 1 is an asset or willingness to obtain it.
The Opportunity
This isn't necessarily a narrowly defined production job.
As Cowichan Kombucha grows, we expect new opportunities in production, markets, wholesale, sales, marketing and business development. For the right person who demonstrates initiative and capability, there is room for the position to evolve with the company.
We’re looking for someone who wants to contribute—not simply clock in and complete a list of tasks.
If you’re excited about local food, enjoy working with people and like the idea of helping build something from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.
