API is currently seeking a Project Manager to join our team for a 19-month temporary contract position. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing various projects from initiation to completion. They will be required to hold exceptional leadership and communication skills and will ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
This is a 1.0 FTE role within our PMO function, with one vacancy available in the team; candidates who are better suited at a Project Coordinator level are encouraged to apply to the Project Coordinator posting.

Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
Project Management
- Manage the delivery of projects - both client facing and internal to the organization - on time and within scope and budget to ensure project objectives are met.
- Facilitate collaboration, problem solving, and communication to support efficient project delivery.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations.
- Remove roadblocks for the team to ensure smooth progress and ensure resources have adequate support to complete their work.
- Organize internal and external resources appropriately in consultation with senior leadership.
- Conservatively manage change requests to effectively manage scope and other project constraints.
- Ensure business decisions are made by the most accountable person, in consultation with appropriate representation from all impacted functional areas.
- Work with and problem-solve with the technical teams and subject-matter experts
Risk Management and Issue Resolution
- Consistently identify, track, and manage risks, assumptions, issues, and decisions with the project team.
- Develop response plans as needed to address identified risks.
- Take ownership of issue resolution and problem-solving.
- Provide a collaborative environment for resolving issues effectively, escalate issues only when necessary.
Leadership
- Contribute to the development and sharing of project management best practices and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and SMEs to design, develop, and operationalize standard processes to support the development of a project management program.
Project Selection & Scoping
- In collaboration with business development, conduct requirements gathering and project feasibility assessment, client engagement, contract and budget development and management, and resource allocation
Qualifications - (Education, Certification, Degree, Skills, Knowledge, etc.)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or relevant field.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) designation is required.
Experience
- 2-5 years of managing projects or supporting project operations
- 5+ years of experience managing projects.
- Extensive knowledge and applied experience in project management principles and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®).
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage full range of project work, from small details to the big picture, with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership, team building, and relationship management.
- Excellence in assessment, gap analysis, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Possessing a proactive, prospective, and strategic mindset.
- Ability to effectively communicate across multiple stakeholder groups and SMEs internal and external to the organization.
- Understanding of the pharmaceutical development sector considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Monday Software or similar tools is an asset.

Working Conditions:
- Required travel between Edmonton API sites.
- This position requires you to be on site.
- This position requires you to occasionally be on an active construction site.
- Office settings and daily work on construction site including PPE.
- Exposure to chemicals, machinery and equipment.
