Job Description – Plasma Table Operator / Sheetmetal Technician

Based out of our shop in St. Albert, AB, the Plasma Table Operator/Sheetmetal Technician position will report to the General Manager, and will be primarily responsible for the final assembly, quality assurance, and packaging of our finished products. This opening is for full-time day shift of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC plasma table, CNC press brake, power threader, drill press, saw and angle grinders.
Review components before and after each process for quality assurance, and mechanical and aesthetic conformance.
Forklift load full size steel sheets and unload cut plates from CNC plasma table.
Process cut plate parts through multiple processes; machine cleaning (grinding), drilling, threading and press brake forming.
Interpret engineering drawings and process product components as per drawings.
Promote a safe working culture.
Work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Keep work areas and all machinery clean and organized.
Track inventory of processed product components.
Limited computer tasks as required.
Other shop duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is considered an asset.
Minimum 2-4 years’ of experience in a CNC cutting operator roll within a manufacturing/mechanical environment.
Experience reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings/blueprints and being able to program CNC machines accordingly to achieve desired results within dimensional and quality tolerances.
Competent using basic hand tools and power tools (drill, impact drill, router, chop saw, etc).
Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).
Knowledge of, or experience in, MIG welding process considered an asset.
Knowledge of imperial bolt/screw nomenclature considered an asset.
Experience with a hydraulic press and drill press considered an asset.
Forklift experience considered an asset.
Basic computer knowledge considered and asset.
First aid training considered an asset.
Personal interest in health and fitness considered an asset.
Knowledge of fitness industry/equipment considered an asset.

Working Conditions

Sitting or standing position in a temperature controlled manufacturing environment with occasional outside activities.
Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e, safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection and respirators when required).
Must be able to occasionally work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders).

Physical Requirements

A physically dynamic job requiring a combination of sitting, standing, regular lifting/moving of up to 50lbs within a shop environment
Ability to safely use and operate CNC machines, hand tools such as knife, screwdriver, ratchet, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.
