We are seeking a dedicated Litigation Legal Assistant specializing in Employment Law to join our dynamic legal team. This role involves providing comprehensive support to attorneys handling employment-related litigation cases, ensuring smooth case progression from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to legal support functions. Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following core duties:
- Provide comprehensive legal administrative support, including drafting, compiling, and coordinating correspondence, legal documents, and pleadings
- Assist with preparation for court applications, questionings, hearings, mediations and trials
- Manage timelines for court filings
- Regular contact with clients and handle new client intakes
- Prepare client accounts and follow up on receivables
- Perform complex editing and formatting for correspondence and documents
- Document management duties including filing, limitation and diary system
- Building a positive rapport with staff, lawyers and clients
- Follow instructions and be able to thrive in a professional team environment
Key Qualifications and Education:
In addition to experience with the above, the candidate would have the following background, skills and experience:
- Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a litigation and/or employment legal assistant role
- Has a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines
- A positive, self-starter attitude with the ability to take initiative
- A high level of professionalism while working closely with lawyers, staff and clients
