• Recruitment range: $76,643 to $84,502. Starting salary is determined in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
• Performance range: Up to $99,674. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.

Job Summary

Mandate
The Marketing and Communications Specialist plans, develops, and delivers integrated marketing and communications initiatives that enhance the visibility, reputation, and student recruitment outcomes of the Faculty of Health. Working within a centralized faculty model, this role applies an integrated marketing and communications (IMC) approach to support consistent, audience-focused messaging and storytelling across multiple academic units.

The position contributes to faculty-wide priorities by leading the development of content, executing recruitment marketing initiatives, and coordinating outreach and events that strengthen engagement with prospective students, partners, and the broader community. The role works collaboratively with Faculty units and central university partners to ensure alignment with institutional strategies, brand standards, and best practices.

Objectives

Plan and deliver integrated marketing and communications initiatives that directly support faculty enrolment, visibility, and reputation objectives
Lead the development and execution of high-quality, audience-focused content and storytelling across digital and print channels
Execute and optimize recruitment marketing campaigns, including digital advertising and conversion-focused initiatives
Plan, promote, and coordinate Faculty-level events and outreach activities that support student recruitment, engagement, and community presence
Provide informed marketing and communications advice to faculty units to support strategic alignment, message clarity, and brand consistency
Monitor, evaluate, and report on marketing and communications performance using analytics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement

Working conditions may include occasional evening and weekend work and travel to support events and outreach activities, including moving event supplies up to 10kgs.

Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, plus a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, events, and/or student recruitment. Demonstrated experience planning, promoting, and supporting events and outreach initiatives is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated experience developing and delivering integrated marketing and communications initiatives aligned with organizational priorities
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to develop clear, engaging content for diverse audiences
Ability to design and execute digital marketing campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, Meta), including applying data-informed approaches to optimize performance
Experience planning and executing events, including promotion, coordination of communications and materials, and post-event evaluation
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), Canva, and MS Office.
Experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing tools (Google Ads, Meta Ads, Hootsuite) to support engagement and recruitment objectives
Ability to analyze and interpret data and analytics to evaluate effectiveness and inform decision-making
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders in a decentralized environment
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and initiative in a dynamic environment
Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment
Experience in post-secondary, health, or public sector environments, is an asset
Familiarity with UVic systems, communications channels, and policy frameworks, is an asset
