Purpose of the Position
Our client is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief based in Edmonton or Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Survey Party Chief plays a key role in supporting client development activities by coordinating and executing high‑quality field survey work in alignment with geomatics, environmental, GIS, and design teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants
- Coordinate with Project Managers to plan field activities, review project requirements, and manage budgets, timelines, and survey methodology
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with client field representatives and landowners
- Prepare and communicate accurate field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data for Project Managers, Land Surveyors, and drafting teams
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to Survey Assistants
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, improved field processes, and innovative use of new technology
- Actively participate in and support the company’s integrated safety program
- Perform occasional office‑based technical survey tasks and other duties as required
Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized post‑secondary program in surveying, geomatics, or equivalent experience
- 5–10 years of experience as a Crew Chief
- Minimum 5 years of upstream oil & gas survey experience
- Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software, including GPS and Total Stations
- Experience with RTK equipment, laser scanning, and line locating is an asset
- Strong problem‑solving skills in field environments
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate, legible field notes
- Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate survey staff while working effectively in a team environment
- Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Experience operating ATVs/UTVs, snowmobiles, and chainsaws is an asset
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Valid First Aid, H2S, and CSTS tickets are considered assets

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
