Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of heavy machinery used in construction, mining, and other industrial applications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and trucks.
Caterpillar experience would be an asset.
Responsibilities:
· Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment and vehicles.
· Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks on heavy equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
· Replace worn or damaged parts and components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
· Test and adjust equipment settings and controls to ensure proper operation and adherence to specifications.
· Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or manual logs.
· Conduct field service repairs and maintenance at job sites, construction sites, or remote locations as needed.
· Follow safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other team members to coordinate repairs and maintenance activities.
· Stay current with advancements in heavy equipment technology, tools, and diagnostic techniques through training and professional development.
Requirements and Skills:
· High school diploma or equivalent is required; completion of a vocational training program in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field is preferred.
· Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or a similar role, with a strong understanding of heavy equipment systems and components.
· Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical systems used in heavy equipment.
· Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, computerized diagnostic software, hand tools, and power tools for troubleshooting and repairs.
· Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions and environments.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with the ability to perform precise and accurate repairs and maintenance.
· Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information and procedures to non-technical individuals.
· Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, and weekends as needed to meet deadlines and respond to equipment breakdowns.
· Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) may be required.

Pay: $40.00-$42.00 per hour
