About Bigwin Island Golf Club
Located on a private island, Bigwin Island Golf Club is a Member-only destination known for its championship golf course, elevated hospitality, and refined yet relaxed island atmosphere. Our culinary program supports clubhouse dining in our historical Marine Dining Room, our newly renovated waterfront “Dockside”, as well as golf course outlets, events, and tournaments throughout the season.
Position Overview
Bigwin Island Golf Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Seasonal Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team for the upcoming season. This is a unique opportunity to work at one of Canada’s most prestigious private golf clubs while delivering exceptional dining experiences in a truly memorable setting.
Reporting to the Head Chef, the Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in daily kitchen operations. This position supports menu execution, leads the culinary team during service, and helps maintain the high standards expected by our Members and Guests in a fast-paced seasonal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations
- Lead and support kitchen staff during service and special events
- Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
- Support menu execution and seasonal feature development
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
- Assist with ordering, inventory management, and food cost control
- Train, mentor, and support seasonal culinary team members
- Act as a leader in the Head Chef’s absence when required
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in a professional kitchen with leadership responsibilities
- Culinary diploma or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume, seasonal operation
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience in a private club, resort, or upscale dining environment is an asset
- Food Handler Certification
Compensation
- Weekly salary commensurate with experience

- End of Season Bonus upon successful completion of contract.
