Lead Strong Crews. Build Quality Work. Set the Standard
LAING is looking for experienced Commercial Roofing Foremen and strong Lead Hands who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
We are looking for leaders who understand how to plan and execute complex commercial roofing projects, build strong teams, maintain high production standards, and deliver quality work safely. Whether you are an experienced Foreman looking for a new opportunity or a high-performing Lead Hand ready for more responsibility, we want to hear from you.
For nearly 40 years, LAING has delivered complex commercial roofing and building envelope projects across British Columbia and the Yukon. Our crews work on large-scale and technically demanding projects that require strong planning, communication, teamwork, and leadership at every level of the organization.
As our company continues to grow across British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories, while expanding throughout Western Canada, we are looking for people who want to grow with us — leaders who care about doing the job right, supporting their crews, developing people, and helping raise the standard for what leadership in the roofing industry can look like.
Why Join LAING?
We are building more than roofing systems — we are building strong teams, developing leaders, and creating long-term opportunities for people who want to grow within the industry.
At LAING, our Foremen are actively involved in projects from the beginning. We believe the people leading the work in the field should have input into project execution, manpower planning, logistics, scheduling, safety planning, and material coordination. Our Foremen work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety, and Senior Leadership to help ensure projects are organized, supported, and set up for success before work begins.
Unlike many contractors, our Foremen are not simply handed a project and expected to figure it out. We believe strong planning, communication, and collaboration between operations, project management, safety, and field leadership are critical to project success.
As our company continues to grow across British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories, we remain committed to creating long-term opportunity, stability, and career development for our people.
We continue to invest heavily in safety systems, leadership development, training, mentorship, equipment, technology, and operational improvement because we believe strong companies are built by strong people.
This is a company for people who:
- Take pride in their work
- Value accountability and professionalism
- Want to continue learning and developing
- Care about safety, leadership, and quality
- Want to be part of a growing organization with long-term opportunity
Projects You'll Be Part Of
Our crews work on a wide variety of commercial roofing projects, including:
- Schools and educational facilities
- Multi-family residential developments
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Commercial and industrial buildings
- Government and institutional projects
- Large-scale new construction projects
- Roof replacement and rehabilitation projects
We are known for taking on technically challenging projects that require strong planning, skilled crews, and exceptional leadership.
These are the types of projects that challenge you professionally, develop your leadership skills, and give you the opportunity to build work you can be proud of for years to come.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Successful Foremen at LAING lead from the front. They create organized, professional job sites where crews understand the plan, work is coordinated effectively, quality standards remain high, and projects move safely and efficiently.
They communicate clearly, think ahead, solve problems professionally, and take ownership of both the work and the people performing it.
Strong Foremen understand that leadership is more than production alone. They recognize that safety, quality, labour productivity, scheduling, material management, crew development, and client relationships all contribute to project success.
The most successful leaders at LAING:
- Lead by example and hold themselves to a high standard
- Build strong crews and develop future leaders
- Plan ahead instead of reacting to problems
- Stay organized and communicate clearly under pressure
- Take ownership of safety, quality, production, and team culture
- Support and mentor apprentices and developing team members
- Coordinate effectively with project teams, superintendents, and other trades
- Solve problems professionally and maintain accountability on site
- Treat every project as if it were their own business
We're looking for leaders who care about building people just as much as building projects.
Successful candidates will typically bring many of the following skills and experiences:
- Commercial roofing leadership experience as a Lead Hand, Foreman, or equivalent role
- Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems, installation methods, jobsite coordination, and crew leadership
- Experience with one or more of the following systems is considered a strong asset:
- TPO
- SBS
- EPDM
- PVC
- Standing Seam Metal Roofing
- Architectural Metal Roofing Systems
- New Construction Commercial Roofing
- Roof Replacement and Rehabilitation Projects
- Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to organize crews and maintain productive jobsites
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Ability to work collaboratively with crews, project teams, superintendents, and leadership
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required
