The Account Manager, Upstream Oil & Gas, is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding existing and new business opportunities within the upstream oil and gas market, with a primary focus on fracturing (FR), specialty chemicals, and water-soluble polymer applications. This role develops strategic relationships with exploration and production (E&P) companies, pressure pumpers, chemical providers, and other key industry stakeholders while identifying opportunities for SNF products and solutions across fracturing, drilling fluids, production chemicals, cementing, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications.
The Account Manager works closely with SNF's Sales, Technical, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and U.S. Oil & Gas teams to develop market strategies, support product development and commercialization, optimize pricing and supply models, and deliver customer-focused solutions that drive profitable growth.
LOCATION: Home office / Calgary, Alberta, Canada area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute sales and business development strategies to grow SNF's upstream oil and gas business, with a primary focus on fracturing and specialty chemical applications
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with E&P companies, pressure pumpers, chemical providers, and other key customers and prospects
- Develop direct-sourcing strategies for fracturing products, including product positioning, pricing, logistics, supply chain considerations, and customer value propositions
- Conduct market analysis and maintain competitive intelligence on customers, operating basins, fracturing activity, chemical technologies, sourcing models, pricing, and industry trends
- Manage key accounts and identify opportunities to expand SNF products and solutions across fracturing, drilling fluids, production chemicals, cementing, EOR, and other upstream applications
- Develop customer mapping and maintain CRM processes to track prospects, opportunities, wins, losses, customer contacts, and sales activity
- Collaborate with SNF's U.S. Oil & Gas, Technical, R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to align account strategies and support customer requirements
- Support pricing strategies by monitoring raw material, packaging, logistics, distribution, and other key cost factors
- Identify customer technical needs and work with R&D and Technical teams to evaluate, develop, and commercialize polymers and formulations for oilfield applications
- Leverage SNF's vertically integrated capabilities, including R&D, manufacturing, equipment, packaging, and field services, to develop and launch customer solutions
- Maintain strong technical knowledge of SNF products, polymer characteristics, applications, and relevant industry technologies
- Monitor competitive activity, market developments, regulations, and relevant intellectual property affecting the upstream oil and gas industry
- Recruit, train, develop, and support sales personnel and direct reports, as applicable, while ensuring effective account transitions and professional development
- Prepare sales forecasts, market analyses, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or a related field; Polymer Chemistry background preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of technical sales, account management, or business development experience in the oil and gas industry
- Knowledge of upstream oil and gas applications, including fracturing, drilling fluids, cementing, and production chemicals
- Experience managing key accounts and developing relationships with E&P companies, pressure pumpers, chemical providers, or similar customers
- Knowledge of water-soluble polymers, specialty chemicals, and fracturing fluid systems preferred
- Strong business development, strategic account management, pricing, negotiation, and market analysis skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; CRM experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, and priorities effectively
- Ability to travel at least 50% of the time
