Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is looking for a Fundraising & Community Partnerships Specialist to help grow fundraising, strengthen community relationships, and increase awareness of our mission across the Heartland Region.
Reporting to the Director of Community Impact & Engagement, this role is an important member of the Community Impact & Engagement Team and will take the lead on a range of fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, monthly giving, sponsorships, grants, lottery fundraising, community fundraising, donor stewardship, and our annual signature fundraising event.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both building relationships and getting things done. You will work closely with colleagues, donors, volunteers, sponsors, businesses, community organizations, and other partners to generate support for Habitat Heartland and help create sustainable pathways for future growth.

As our Fundraising & Community Partnerships Specialist, you will help turn community support into meaningful impact.
Your work will directly contribute to growing our donor community, building corporate and community partnerships, securing funding, strengthening our visibility, and creating new opportunities for people and organizations to become part of Habitat Heartland's mission.
What success looks like (12-18 months)
- Successfully launch and grow fundraising initiatives including annual appeals, monthly giving, sponsorship programs, and lottery fundraising.
- Increase donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.
- Secure new corporate sponsorships and community partnerships.
- Submit high-quality grant applications and funding proposals.
- Coordinate a successful annual fundraising event.
- Support community-based initiatives and ReStore engagement activities throughout the region.
- Develop compelling fundraising stories and marketing content that strengthen awareness and support.
- Build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, community organizations/service clubs, and local businesses.
- Become a trusted ambassador for Habitat Heartland throughout the communities we serve.
What you’ll do
Fundraising & Revenue Generation (70%)
- Coordinate and implement fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
- Grow and manage the monthly giving program through donor acquisition, stewardship, and retention efforts.
- Coordinate and promote lottery fundraising initiatives, including 50/50 campaigns and other licensed fundraising activities.
- Research, write, and submit grant applications, funding proposals, and reports.
- Identify, cultivate, and secure local sponsorship opportunities.
- Develop, secure and steward Team Day sponsorships for both ReStores and Build Days.
- Support donor stewardship activities including impact reporting, acknowledgements, and relationship management.
- Work collaboratively with the finance team to maintain accurate donor records and fundraising data within CRM systems.
- Lead the planning, execution, evaluation, and growth of the organization's annual signature fundraising event, including sponsorship acquisition, donor engagement, volunteer committee collaboration, logistics, and post-event reporting.
- Track fundraising performance and prepare reports for leadership.
- Recruit and support community fundraisers and third-party fundraising initiatives.
Communication, Marketing and Storytelling (30%)
- Develop fundraising communications that support donor acquisition, stewardship, sponsorship, events, monthly giving, and lottery fundraising initiatives.
- Gather stories, impact idata, testimonials, and photos that demonstrate the impact of Habitat Heartland's work.
- Create compelling content for social media, email campaigns, newsletters, brochures, and website updates.
- Collaborate with staff to promote fundraising initiatives and community impact across appropriate communication channels.
- Support initiatives related to department’s communication strategy.
- Support fundraising-related communications including donor appeals, sponsorship materials, newsletters, event promotions, and stewardship content
- Represent Habitat Heartland at community events, networking activities, and partnership meetings.
About You:
- Education & Experience: Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, or a related field, combined with approximately 2–3+ years of relevant experience.
- Fundraising Experience: You have experience supporting or coordinating fundraising campaigns, events, sponsorships, donor engagement, community partnerships, or similar initiatives.
- Strong Communicator: You're a confident writer and storyteller who can translate ideas and impact into communications that inspire people to get involved.
- Relationship Builder: You enjoy meeting people, building trust, developing partnerships, and creating opportunities for others to support a shared mission.
- Organized & Accountable: You can manage multiple initiatives, deadlines, relationships, and details while maintaining strong follow-through.
- Creative & Results-Oriented: You bring ideas forward, look for new opportunities, and are motivated by achieving measurable results.
- Collaborative: You enjoy being part of a team, share ideas openly, support colleagues, and recognize that the best results often come from working together.
- Coachability: You are comfortable receiving feedback and direction while taking ownership and accountability for your work.
- Technology: You're comfortable with Microsoft Office, social media and digital communications tools, and donor database/CRM systems. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset.
- Additional Assets: Experience with grant writing, sponsorship development, donor stewardship, event fundraising, or lottery fundraising would be an advantage.
- Mobility & Flexibility: You have a valid driver's licence, are willing to travel throughout the Heartland service region, and can occasionally work evenings or weekends for events and community activities.
