Role Description This Full-time Automotive Body Technician role is an on-site position based in Midland, ON. The Automotive Body Technician is responsible for performing collision repairs, bodywork, and paint preparation on customer and dealership vehicles, following manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include assessing vehicle damage, repairing or replacing damaged panels and components, performing structural and cosmetic repairs, and preparing and finishing surfaces for painting. The role also involves collaborating with service advisors and other technicians, maintaining accurate repair records, keeping the work area clean and organized, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety requirements. The Automotive Body Technician contributes to timely and efficient repairs that support customer satisfaction and dealership operations.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Auto Body and Collision work, including structural and cosmetic repairs.
- Candidates should possess skills in Paint preparation and application, including surface repair and finishing.
- Candidates should possess skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair, including basic mechanical understanding related to bodywork.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as an Automotive Body Technician or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in an automotive body shop or dealership environment is an asset.
- Ability to interpret repair estimates, technical manuals, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety practices, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working with tools and equipment.
Responsibilities.
- Perform body repairs including dent removal, panel replacement, and frame straightening using hand tools and power tools.
- Use heavy lifting equipment safely to move and position vehicle parts during repairs.
- Conduct mechanical inspections to identify additional issues requiring attention.
- Sand, paint, and finish vehicle surfaces to match original specifications and ensure a flawless appearance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards at all times.
- Communicate progress with team members and ensure timely completion of repairs.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or hands-on auto body repair background.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to automotive systems and repairs.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting equipment.
- Ability to perform automotive repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on safety procedures.
- Mechanic experience is highly desirable for understanding complex vehicle components.
