Office location: Montreal Area, on-site.
If you reside beyond a reasonable commuting distance to the Montreal Area, relocation will be required.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Retail Construction Project Manager to oversee and manage multiple construction and renovation projects at any point in time.
You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to company standards. This includes managing projects from concept and planning through permitting, construction, occupancy, and final project closeout.
You will work closely with contractors, architects, consultants, vendors, landlords, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution
Manage multiple concurrent construction and renovation projects.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance.
Coordinate project activities among contractors, consultants, landlords, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Financial Management
Develop annual capital expenditure budgets and manage project finances.
Monitor expenses closely and maintain budget control.
Negotiate with general contractors to achieve cost-effective outcomes.
Issue and manage purchase orders for construction materials, fixtures, equipment, and services.
Procurement and Contractor Management
Lead the bidding process by preparing bid packages, evaluating proposals, and awarding contracts to qualified general contractors and vendors.
Manage contractor and vendor performance throughout project execution.
Ensure all workmanship meets expectations and aligns with company standards.
Stakeholder Communication
Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal departments, landlords, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Coordinate with landlords regarding approvals, site access, construction schedules, lease obligations, and project requirements.
Provide timely updates on project timelines, risks, budgets, and key developments.
Risk and Compliance Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize impacts on schedules, budgets, and quality.
Oversee permitting and ensure full compliance with local building codes and regulations.
Manage final inspections, occupancy permits, closeout documentation, punch lists, and project handovers.
Qualifications
Required Experience
3 to 5 years of retail construction project management experience.
Experience managing retail construction projects from concept through occupancy and project closeout.
Experience in retail commercial environments including downtown locations, suburban locations, free-standing stores, strip plazas, and shopping malls.
Experience managing new store openings, renovations, refreshes, relocations, and tenant improvement projects is considered a strong asset.
Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership capabilities with proven negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to adapt to change and handle pressure.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Highly organized, self-directed, and proactive.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Language Requirements
Fluency in French and English.
Approximately 25% to 30% of communication will be conducted in French.
Other Requirements
Travel to project sites anywhere in Canada, as needed.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Compensation
Base salary is $85,000 to $100,000 per annum , based on experience.
The compensation package includes comprehensive benefits and bonus.
