Full job description

Position: Cafe Manager

Salary: $45,000/year

Report to: Owner

Summary:

The Cafe Manager is responsible for the overall daily operation of Misty Pines Cafe and Bakery. The Manager leads both the Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH), ensuring excellent customer service, efficient operations, food quality, staff performance, and a positive work environment. The Manager serves as the communication link between FOH and BOH and is responsible for maintaining high operational standards.

Leadership and Team Management

Lead, coach, and support all cafe staff
Foster teamwork and professional communication between FOH and BOH
ensure all staff follow company policies and procedures
Delegate tasks and monitor completion
Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching
Address staff concerns and resolve workplace conflicts professionally
Maintain a positive work environment

Operations:

Oversee daily cafe operations from opening to closing
Ensure smooth communication between the kitchen and front
Monitor workflow and adjust staffing or priorities as needed
Step into any position when necessary to support the team
Ensure all opening and closing procedures are completed properly
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the cafe

Customer Service

Handle customer service complaints professionally and promptly
Resolve customer concerns in a fair and courteous manner
Ensure every customer receives friendly and efficient service
SUpport staff in difficult customer situations
Follow up on customer feedback and recommend improvements

Inventory Management

Complete weekly inventory counts for both FOH and BOH
Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages
Report inventory needs to owners
Ensure all inventory is stored safely and organized

Staff Support

Assist baristas during busy periods
Assist with food preparation when necessary
Support online order fulfillment during peak hours
Help maintain service speed and product quality
Ensure breaks are covered appropriately

Food Safety and Quality

Ensure all food safety procedures are followed
Monitor sanitation and celling standards
Ensure temperature logs and cleaning checklist are completed
Ensure all products meet company quality standards
Address and food safety concerns immediately

Administrative Responsibilities

Complete daily manager reports as required
Monitor labour efficiency and staffing needs
Report maintenance or equipment issues
Communicate operational concerns and recommendations to the owner
Assist with scheduling when requested

Expectations

The Cafe Manager is expected to:

Be a leader and role model at all times
Communicate effectively between FOH and BOH
Take ownership of problems and work toward solutions
Support staff rather than simply supervise them
Maintain a calm and professional attitude under pressure
Hold employees accountable while treating everyone fairly and respectfully
Prioritize customer satisfaction and operational excellence
Be present on the floor during busy periods rather than working only in the office
Ensure the cafe is organize, efficient, and ready for each day of business

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
