Summary

We are seeking a diligent Real Estate/Wills and Estate Law Clerk to join our excellent team in Cobourg, ON. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support our law practice and contribute to meaningful legal work that makes a difference in clients' lives. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and passionate about legal matters, having experience in dealing with all aspects of Real Estate/Wills and Estate transactions documentation, procedures in relevant area of law as well as reception work.

Responsibilities

Greet clients, answer phone lines, witness documents and handle front desk.
Perform clerical duties, including data entry and file management.
Assist in legal drafting and preparation of documents.
Manage project timelines and assist with case management tasks.
Maintain professional phone etiquette, regular contact while communicating with clients, court staff and stakeholders.
Support attorneys during interviews and client meetings and court procedures as needed.
Drafting, filing, coordinating, managing, organizing and reviewing client and court documents.
Attending with clients to prepare review, revise and execute documents.
Drafting invoices and letters to clients.
Other general office duties.
Special projects or tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications

Proven law office experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication, legal drafting skills along with Strong research and analysis skills.
Familiarity with legal drafting processes in real estate, wills and estate related areas of law.
An understanding of land records/deeds/surveys/title insurance is a must.
Documentation of private and institutional financing transactions (commercial and residential).
Draft and review closing documents for commercial and residential real estate and financing transactions.
Manage residential and commercial real estate files from beginning to end of transaction.
Conduct corporate searches, title and off-title searches, including PPSA searches
Drafting of Wills and probate court documents relating to estates.
Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information and sensitive issues.
