We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer who combines exceptional Electrical Engineering expertise with project leadership, client relationship management, team development, and practice growth skills. This role is ideal for a highly capable Electrical Engineer with experience designing electrical building systems in accordance with Ontario codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, and a thorough understanding of power distribution, emergency power systems, lighting, fire alarm systems, communications infrastructure, life safety systems, and applicable codes and standards.
While leadership and client engagement are important aspects of this role, we are ultimately seeking a strong Electrical Engineer with the technical expertise to lead complex electrical building systems projects from concept through construction.
Reporting to the Senior Leadership, you will serve as a technical leader within the Electrical Engineering team, guiding project delivery, mentoring junior staff, working directly with clients and stakeholders, and contributing to the continued growth of Mantecon's Electrical Engineering practice.

The Opportunity

You will serve as a lead Electrical Engineer on complex building and infrastructure projects while coordinating multidisciplinary teams, working directly with clients and stakeholders, and providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do
Electrical Engineering Leadership
- Act as the Lead Electrical Engineer responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of electrical building systems projects from concept through construction.
- Provide technical oversight and engineering review of electrical designs including power distribution, emergency power systems, lighting, fire alarm systems, communications infrastructure, security systems, public address systems, nurse call systems, and related building systems.
- Develop innovative and practical electrical engineering solutions that balance performance, constructability, energy efficiency, reliability, and client objectives.
- Oversee the preparation and review of engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, cost estimates, and tender documentation.
- Apply advanced knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, ULC standards, and industry best practices.
- Review, approve, and seal engineering drawings, reports, and supporting documentation as required.
- Ensure designs meet all applicable regulatory requirements, project objectives, and quality standards.
Project & Client Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders.
- Lead client meetings, technical presentations, and design review discussions.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and deliverables.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- Support projects during construction through site reviews, contract administration, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, change order reviews, and coordination with contractors.
- Build and strengthen long-term client relationships through exceptional service and technical expertise.
Team Development & Growth
- Mentor and support engineers and designers.
- Contribute to technical excellence, quality assurance initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support proposal preparation, fee estimates, project pursuits, and client presentations.
- Strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of Mantecon's Electrical Engineering practice.
- Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and service offerings.

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive Electrical Engineering experience delivering building systems projects, including experience designing electrical systems in accordance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in the design of power distribution, emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, communications, security, public address, and related electrical systems.
- Proven experience serving as a lead Electrical Engineer responsible for technical design, engineering review, and project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, ULC standards, and related regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with standards including CAN/ULC-S524, CSA Z32, CSA C282, and other applicable electrical design standards.
- Demonstrated experience delivering industrial, institutional, commercial, residential, healthcare, or manufacturing projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
- Ontario Electrical Engineering experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate direct experience designing and delivering electrical building systems projects in accordance with Ontario codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working directly with architects, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience leading client meetings and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proven ability to manage projects, lead teams, and build strong client relationships.
- PMP designation is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and willingness to attend project and client sites as required.
