Marine Thinking is looking for a highly organized, proactive, and collaborative Project Manager to support the development and delivery of Marine Thinking Technology integration into various vessels as well as government-funded technology and innovation projects.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, government funding, research, industry partnerships, and commercialization. The successful candidate will coordinate the execution of commercialization projects, as well as government applications, and quarterback project delivery, manage reporting requirements, and maintain strong relationships with private sector clients as needed, government agencies, and private sector partners.

The Opportunity
The Project Manager position will support Marine Thinking's government and private sector project portfolio, helping move projects from opportunity assessment and proposals through execution, reporting, and closeout.
You will work closely with internal teams—including Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and Finance—as well as client representatives, research organizations, academic institutions, and industry partners.
The role requires someone who can bring structure to complex projects, keep multiple deadlines moving, identify potential issues early, understands government policy, process and platforms, and ensure project requirements are understood and met.
You will be an important link between project teams, private sector clients, government funding agencies, and external partners, helping ensure that commitments are clearly understood, documented, tracked, and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Government Funding & Program Development
● Assessment of internal resources and capabilities when collaborating on the submission of a client proposal ensuring that the Company can meet its commitments if awarded the contract.Work with internal technical and business teams to gather required information and supporting documentation.
● Coordinate proposal development, including schedules, budgets, project objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
● Maintain organized records of applications, agreements, correspondence, and supporting materials from proposal through completion of client engagements.
Project Coordination
● Coordinate client projects from initiation through completion.
● Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables, action items, and timelines.
● Work with project leads to track progress against approved plans.
● Coordinate project meetings and maintain agendas, minutes, decisions, and action items.
● Follow up with internal teams and external partners to ensure commitments are completed on schedule.
● Identify schedule, resource, documentation, or delivery risks and escalate issues when required.
● Support project changes, amendments, extensions, and other funding-agreement requirements.
Reporting, Compliance & Financial Administration
● Track financial and funding-agreement requirements, reporting deadlines, eligible expenses, milestones, and deliverables for private and public sector clients.
● Coordinate progress reports, technical reports, financial reporting, and reimbursement claims when needed.
● Work with Finance and project teams to ensure project expenditures and supporting documentation are appropriately tracked.
● Maintain accurate project and funding records throughout the project lifecycle for government projects.
● Support government audits, reviews, and information requests.
● Assist with project closeout, final reporting, and documentation.
● Identify potential compliance issues and escalate them proactively.
Stakeholder & Partnership Coordination
● Serve as a key coordination point between Marine Thinking and its clients project managers and leads..
● Coordinate communications with private sector client executional teams, government representatives, research organizations, academic institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders which will vary depending on client sector.
● Schedule meetings, coordinate information requests, and track follow-up actions.
● When applicable, support the development and administration of partnership agreements and project documentation.
● Build positive and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
● Ensure stakeholders understand project responsibilities, timelines, and deliverables.
Internal Coordination
● Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Finance, and leadership.
● Translate project mandate requirements into clear project tasks, timelines, and responsibilities.
● Help technical teams understand reporting and documentation requirements.
● Maintain visibility of project status, upcoming deadlines, risks, and required actions.
● Support continuous improvement of Marine Thinking's project and funding management processes.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
● Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Public Administration, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline.
● Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination private and public sector, project administration, government programs execution, grants management, or a related environment.
● Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
● Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and communicate complex information.
● Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
● Experience using project management, collaboration, or document management software, including government platforms.
● Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
● Strong judgment and ability to identify issues, risks, and competing priorities.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
Experience Considered an Asset
● Experience with Canadian government funding and innovation programs
● Experience preparing grant or funding applications.
● Experience coordinating government-funded projects.
● Experience preparing technical or project progress reports.
● Experience with contribution agreements or funding contracts.
● Experience in technology, engineering, manufacturing, marine technology, robotics, AI, software, or other innovation-driven industries.
● Experience working with universities, research organizations, or industry consortiums.
● Project management certification such as PMP, CAPM, or an equivalent designation is considered an asset. (Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies is also considered an asset.)
● Experience managing projects involving multiple organizations or funding partners.
