The Ottawa Cardiovascular Centre is currently recruiting for the position of Cardiac Sonographer.
Ottawa Cardiovascular Centre Echocardiography MISSION:
The Mission of the Echocardiography Laboratory of the Ottawa Cardiovascular Centre is to provide a high quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound for those suffering from acute and chronic cardiovascular disease.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Echocardiography Lab Manager, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) performs all Cardiac ultrasound according to the Standards of Practice, and is responsible to ensure quality patient care is provided.
Required:
- Current member and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Current credentialed member of Sonography Canada
- Graduate from an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program
- Possess valid liability insurance as defined by the CMRITO
- Must be available to work at both locations as per the needs of the clinic and clinic demands
- Experience in Stress Echocardiography (or willingness to be trained)
- IV insertion certification
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (French speaking is an asset)
- Initiative, organizational and decision-making skills are essential
- Must have a team-based approach
Duties:
- Performs Cardiac ultrasound imaging according to the Standards of Practice
- Uses Image-Enhancing Contrast Agents when required
- Communicate with physicians unusual or inconsistent findings during a procedure
- Write effective preliminary reports for the cardiologist
- Responsible for the daily upkeep and cleaning of equipment
- Ensure adequate level of product and supplies to support daily operations
- Archive and retrieve data to and from PACS/EMR
- Report equipment deficiencies to Echocardiography Lab Manager
- Instructs students during clinical rotation when required
- Assists in the orientation and training of new Sonographers
- Demonstrate willingness to participate in quality improvement
- Participates in continuing education to increase professional growth and development
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time

Pay: $30.00-$55.00 per hour
