The Manager, Ophthalmology is responsible for the operational development, coordination, implementation, and ongoing support of specialty ophthalmology programs and clinic partnerships. This role acts as a central liaison between ophthalmology clinics, pharmacy operations, reimbursement teams, Patient Support Programs (PSPs), pharmaceutical partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless program implementation and ongoing operational excellence.
The primary focus of the role will be Ophthalmology operations, including the onboarding and implementation of new clinic partnerships, development of efficient clinic and pharmacy workflows, coordination of physician and healthcare provider education, operational performance management, and ongoing support of ophthalmology programs.
This position requires a highly organized and collaborative professional with strong healthcare operations and project coordination experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Ophthalmology Clinic Operations
- Lead the operational coordination and ongoing support of ophthalmology clinic partnerships.
- Support the implementation, launch, and expansion of ophthalmology programs and services.
- Serve as a key operational contact for ophthalmologists, physicians, clinic administrators, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
- Develop and implement standardized workflows connecting ophthalmology clinics with pharmacy, reimbursement teams, PSPs, and other internal resources.
- Identify operational gaps and develop solutions to improve patient access, provider experience, workflow efficiency, and program performance.
- Support the development of standard operating procedures, workflow documentation, implementation tools, and best practices for ophthalmology programs.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the Director to translate strategic ophthalmology objectives into actionable operational plans.
New Partnership & Clinic Onboarding
- Lead or coordinate the operational onboarding of new ophthalmology clinic partnerships.
- Develop implementation plans, onboarding checklists, timelines, and project trackers.
- Coordinate operational requirements across pharmacy, reimbursement, PSP, nursing, clinic, technology, and other internal teams.
- Coordinate meetings, implementation activities, action items, and stakeholder communications.
- Ensure onboarding milestones and deliverables are completed within established timelines.
- Identify risks, barriers, and dependencies and escalate issues appropriately.
- Support the development of scalable onboarding processes as the ophthalmology partnership network grows.
Physician & Clinic Relationship Support
- Develop strong working relationships with ophthalmologists, physicians, clinic leadership, administrators, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Act as an operational resource for clinic partners and coordinate resolution of issues affecting pharmacy or patient workflows.
- Support the Director with strategic relationship management activities.
- Participate in clinic meetings, business reviews, implementation meetings, and operational planning sessions.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the value provided to ophthalmology partners.
Specialty Medication & PSP Coordination
- Coordinate operational workflows related to specialty ophthalmology medications.
- Liaise with Patient Support Programs, reimbursement teams, pharmacy operations, clinics, and pharmaceutical partners to support patient access and continuity of therapy.
- Assist clinics with specialty medication onboarding and coordination processes.
- Identify recurring reimbursement, access, dispensing, or communication issues and coordinate solutions.
- Support the development of efficient communication pathways between clinics, PSPs, reimbursement teams, and pharmacy operations.
- Monitor operational issues and trends and provide recommendations to leadership.
Ophthalmology CE & Educational Programs
- Lead the operational coordination of live Continuing Education (CE) events and other ophthalmology educational initiatives.
- Coordinate event logistics including physician/speaker scheduling, venues, attendee management, materials, technology, vendors, and communications.
- Work with pharmaceutical partners and internal stakeholders to ensure successful execution of educational programs.
- Maintain event timelines, budgets, deliverables, and follow-up requirements.
- Support development of educational materials, presentations, agendas, and other event documentation.
- Ensure events are delivered in accordance with organizational policies and applicable healthcare industry requirements.
- Identify opportunities to use educational programming to strengthen relationships with ophthalmology practices.
Ophthalmology Performance & Reporting
- Develop and maintain operational dashboards, reports, and performance tracking tools.
- Monitor key operational metrics related to clinic onboarding, patient referrals, prescription flow, program implementation, and partnership performance.
- Prepare regular operational updates and recommendations for the Director.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support business cases and operational analysis for new ophthalmology initiatives.
- Contribute to annual and multi-year ophthalmology growth and operational planning.
- Other duties as assigned my Management
- Postsecondary education in healthcare administration, business, operations, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in healthcare operations, clinic coordination, specialty pharmacy, ophthalmology, or pharmaceutical program support.
- Experience working with Patient Support Programs (PSPs), reimbursement navigation, specialty medications, or specialty pharmacy workflows considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of clinic operations and multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
- Experience coordinating projects, implementations, or new clinic partnerships is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational and project coordination skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with experience managing multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, clinic teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
