Full job description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join our team!

Transcare Logistics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway (CPKC) and is the largest and the fastest steel transload (rail to truck) facility in Canada. Canada's first automated distribution hub ensures unparalleled speed of service for coil, pipe or plate. We transload a variety of material from steel, drywall, lumbar and other commodities.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Clerk serves as a vital member of the finance team, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the accounts receivable and accounts payable cycles. This role is responsible for maintaining precise financial records, supporting month-end closures, and facilitating smooth communication with vendors and team members.

Duties and responsibilities

Prepare and post customer invoices weekly and process payable invoices daily.
Facilitate weekly EFT payments to vendors to ensure timely settlement of accounts.
Post monthly accruals and support month-end process
Complete monthly HST and QST reconciliations
Compile reports and summaries for management
Reconcile vendor accounts in a timely manner
Assist with the annual budget process
Prepare and send out collections/customer statements as required
Review AR ledgers weekly to ensure timely receipt of customer payments
Prepare and post customer deposits
Reconcile and post daily bank transactions
Prepare and post daily truck line invoicing
Prepare and post weekly owner-operator invoices and payments
Assists in special projects as necessary
Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
Assist and support company personnel, customers and suppliers
Continually update job knowledge

Qualifications

Degree in Accounting or related field required

· 1 to 2 years of experience in public or private accounting preferred

Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
Proven organizational and time management skills.

· Professional communication and interpersonal skills.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with accounting software.

Working conditions

Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor and a collaborative team member.

Physical requirements

· Ability to remain seated for 6–8 hours.

· Using fingers for typing and mouse control.

Near-distance vision for reading computer screen
