About the Role
This role is ideal for an experienced CAD Design and Drafting Technician who enjoys bringing commercial and industrial construction projects to life through thoughtful design and accurate technical drawings. You'll work closely with our project managers, clients, and construction team to develop building layouts and construction drawings from concept through to completion.

This position is based in Perth, Ontario and offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining office, remote, and occasional site work.
Key Responsibilities, Design & Drafting
- Prepare commercial and industrial building layouts and detailed construction drawings.
- Produce accurate technical drawings using AutoCAD.
- Assist with project design from initial concept through construction documentation.
- Revise drawings as projects evolve and client requirements change.
- Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
Project Coordination
- Attend site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions.
- Participate in meetings with clients, project managers, consultants, and other professionals during the design process.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure drawings meet project objectives and construction requirements.
- Support project coordination throughout various stages of design and construction.
Code Compliance & Technical Support
- Evaluate drawings for compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other applicable regulations.
- Assist with permit and approval documentation where required.
- Maintain organized project files and drawing records.
- Support continuous improvement of drafting standards and design processes.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Revit (considered a strong asset).
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, particularly for commercial and industrial construction.
- Experience preparing construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
- Interest in building a long-term career with a growing company.
Requirements
- Must be currently living in Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be local to Perth, Ontario, or within a reasonable commuting distance.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for occasional site visits.
