About Sienna Painting
At Sienna Painting, we believe a great painting company is built around great people.
We're looking for an experienced painter who is ready to take the next step in their career—not just by painting, but by leading a crew, taking ownership of job sites, and helping the people around them become better painters.
If you're the person who naturally takes the lead, notices what needs to be done, keeps the crew moving, communicates well with clients, and takes pride in leaving a job site better than you found it, we'd like to meet you.
We're building a company where hardworking people can develop their skills, take on more responsibility, and grow into larger leadership roles.
The Role
As a Lead Painter & Crew Leader, you'll be the person responsible for running the day-to-day operations of our painting job sites.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll spend your time painting alongside the crew while also making sure the work is organized, the team knows what they're doing, clients are kept informed, and the finished product meets Sienna Painting's standards.
You'll be expected to take ownership of your sites and solve problems as they come up rather than waiting for someone else to tell you what to do.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Lead the Crew
- Lead and coordinate painting crews on residential job sites
- Assign daily tasks and make sure the crew understands the plan
- Keep the team productive, organized, and working efficiently
- Train, coach, and mentor less-experienced painters
- Set the example for professionalism, work ethic, and quality
- Address problems with the crew respectfully and directly
Run the Job Site
- Take ownership of the day-to-day job site
- Make sure materials, tools, and equipment are available and organized
- Keep the site clean, safe, and respectful of the client's home or business
- Identify potential problems before they become bigger problems
- Problem-solve independently and know when to communicate issues to management
- Help keep projects on schedule
Maintain Quality
- Ensure preparation and painting work meets Sienna Painting's standards
- Inspect work throughout the project rather than waiting until the end
- Identify and correct deficiencies
- Make sure the crew is following proper painting techniques and procedures
- Take pride in the details—from preparation through final touch-ups
Work With Clients
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients
- Provide clients with updates about the progress of their project
- Answer questions and address concerns professionally
- Represent Sienna Painting positively while you're on site
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is an experienced painter first and a leader second—but has the potential to become an excellent leader.
You should have:
- 3+ years of residential painting experience
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques
- The ability to lead a crew while remaining hands-on
- Confidence training and coaching other painters
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to communicate professionally with clients
- Basic email and computer skills
- Strong organizational skills
- The ability to work independently and make good decisions on site
- A reliable means of transportation
- A strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- The ability to take feedback and give constructive feedback to others
- A genuine interest in growing into a larger leadership role
Physical & Site Requirements
- Comfortable working on ladders up to 32 ft
- Occasional use of 40 ft ladders and lifts
- Able to carry and move painting equipment and materials
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors depending on the project
- Available for occasional weekend work and later shifts when required
Bonus Skills
These aren't required, but we'd love to hear about them:
- HVLP or airless spraying experience
- Cabinet or fine-finish spraying
- Drywall and plaster repair
- Experience operating boom or scissor lifts
- Experience with residential renovations or construction
- Knowledge of Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams products
- Previous experience leading a painting crew
What We Offer
- $30/hr starting wage, with the opportunity for more based on experience and performance
- Performance bonuses
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours/week & scheduling through the winter
- Opportunity for additional hours when available
- All necessary tools and materials supplied
- Work within Toronto city limits—no long-distance GTA travel
- Opportunities to grow into senior leadership and management positions
- A team-oriented workplace where good ideas are listened to
- A respectful management team that believes people should be treated professionally
- A workplace where coaching and accountability are valued over yelling or belittling
- A company that is actively developing its systems and creating opportunities for people to grow with it
Who Will Do Well Here?
This role is a great fit for someone who has been painting for several years and has started thinking:
"I know how to do this job. I'm ready to take more responsibility."
You might already be the person other painters come to with questions. You might naturally organize the crew, notice when something isn't being done properly, or find yourself thinking about how a job could run more efficiently.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
We're not looking for someone who simply wants to be the boss.
We're looking for someone who wants to become a great leader.
This probably isn't the right role for you if: you're looking for a job where you can work independently without communicating with others, don't enjoy teaching or helping less-experienced painters, aren't comfortable being accountable for a job site, or prefer to be told exactly what to do rather than taking initiative.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
