Morskate Manufacturing is a family-run structural steel manufacturer located in Ponoka, Alberta. Specializing in structural, agricultural and custom orders, we take pride in the ability to be adaptable and flexible when designing and building orders to meet the customers exact requirements.

Position Summary

Are you looking for an exciting new career opportunity that comes with amazing opportunities for success and growth for your future? Morskate Manufacturing is actively recruiting a Structural Steel Estimator to join our dynamic team of professionals.

Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation. This role involves calculating material, labor, and time requirements, managing cost databases, and supporting project planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

Estimate and manage projects in compliance with company objectives
Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, Identify labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications and related documents
Compute costs by analyzing labour, material and time requirements
Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Present prepared estimate(s) by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
Maintain cost database by entering and backing-up data
Identify and assist in the facilitation of continual improvement processes in support of company goals

Requirements/Qualifications

Previous estimating experience an asset
Proficient in MS Office
Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills with attention to detail
Must have strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Able to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Active participation in company safety program
Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices

Schedule

Day Shift (currently 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
