Full job description

Riverhouse Restaurant at Northern Lights Estate Winery is the only restaurant on the river in Prince George. Guests from all over the world join us in experiencing the wild offerings of the North, both in dining and experience.

Position Description:

As a member of our Front of House Team, you will be an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our guest experience. Your personal attention and knowledge of our food, beverage and wine offerings, along with your interest in being an ambassador for tourism in Prince George and the North makes our guests feel unique and valued.

Front of House Employees can expect shifts in our full-service restaurant and patio, our large and varied Events department, and Wine Shop.

We value candidates that are flexible, reliable, able and willing to adapt to quickly changing conditions and needs of the business, while maintaining a positive attitude in our guest-facing kitchen. This position has the potential for personal and professional growth.

Full- and part-time positions available.

Job Duties:

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of food and beverage menu items as well as the programs in the Wine Shop and Events departments.
Accurately processing guest orders through TouchBistro POS system and payment devices.
Maintaining an accurate knowledge of all NLEW wines and their tasting notes.
Acting as server, host, bartender, food runner, wine shop sales associate, and event service staff
Complete cleaning tasks, ensure the entire restaurant is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
Event set up and take down indoors and out, in all weather conditions.
Event service both at NLEW & Blackburn Hall when needed (includes weddings, plated meals, buffets, mix and mingle events and private parties)
Welcome customers into the winery, guiding them to the appropriate departments.
Answering the winery phone.

Traits:

Provides exceptional customer service to guests in the Winery.
Has effective organizational tactics to be on top of restaurant flow and operations.
Uses a team mentality to assist where necessary in Restaurant, Wine Shop and Events departments.
Willingness to be productive, take initiative, and wear many hats.
Ability to work self directed with a high level of initiative and pride in your work.
Strong attention to detail, and the urge to go above and beyond.

Requirements:

Reliable transportation in all weather and times of day is required - there is no bus service available.
Must be able to meet physical needs of the position; able to lift 40 lbs frequently and stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work indoors and out in all weather conditions.
Must be comfortable scaling ladders and using stairs frequently
Comfortable working with computers and POS systems. Knowledge of TouchBistro and Square are considered an asset.
Must be available to work a variety of shifts including split shifts, early mornings, late nights, holidays and weekends.
Must be 19 years of age.
Must have up to date Serving It Right certificate.
Candidates must express a sincere interest in learning about wine and food, WSET certification is a plus.
