Experienced Arborist Climber

Driftwood Tree Service is a professional tree care company serving the Niagara Region. We specialize in tight-space tree removals, pruning, and meticulous job site cleanup.
We are hiring an Experienced Arborist Climber to join our team. This position offers a clear and accelerated path to Crew Leader, Main Climber, and/or Bucket Operator for the right candidate.
This role is ideal for someone with 2+ years of professional climbing experience who is currently enrolled in, or has graduated from, an arboriculture or forestry program and is looking to grow their skills, knowledge, and responsibilities in the tree care industry.
It is also ideal for someone who wants to move into a leadership role and take on more responsibility over time.
We are also open to candidates with more experience who align with our standards and culture. At Driftwood, attitude and professionalism matter more than years in the trade.
This is physically demanding, safety-critical outdoor work that requires focus, maturity, and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Tree climbing for pruning and removal operations
- Rigging support and technical dismantling
- Safe chainsaw handling aloft and on the ground
- Working with the crew to protect property and complete jobs efficiently
- Equipment setup, organization, and care
- Job site clean-up and safety maintenance
- Supporting a professional, respectful, and safety-oriented crew culture
- Continued skill development toward leadership, main climber, and bucket operator roles
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional tree climbing experience
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Professional and respectful attitude
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions in dynamic situations
- Strong understanding of safe work practices
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications / Assets
- Experience leading or supervising a crew
- ISA Certified Arborist
- Registered Apprentice or Certified Arborist 444B through Skilled Trades Ontario
- AZ, ARZ, or DZ driver's license; 3+ years commercial driving experience with 11000 kg vehicles or higher
- Arboriculture or Forestry program student or graduate
- Large equipment experience
- Crane-assisted removal exposure
- Bucket truck experience
- Experience operating chippers, stump grinders, mini skids, or aerial lifts
