We are actively recruiting for teaching assistants to assist the Teacher in the classroom on a daily basis with a variety of activities. The successful candidate will possess patience, take initiative, be attentive, with an eye for detail and have an interest in working with children with developmental disabilities.
Candidates must be available from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm
Starting salary $17.60/hr. No experience or academics are required for the position. Your entire day will be paid, including your lunch break.
Location: Ville Saint-Laurent (Metro Cote-Vertu)
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting Teachers in the classroom with a variety of activities, in a special education environment, such as preparing the classroom for the day or any other relevant request.
- Working with children individually or in small groups (12-15 students per class).
- Oversee the lunch and recess program
- Planning and Implementing curriculum with the classroom Teachers guidance
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher
- Step into the teacher role when the teacher is absent, on occasion.

Skills & Qualifications
- High level of empathy, care and sensitivity to the needs of the students.
- Prior experience working or caring for children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential for this position.
- Ensure the safety of the students in the classroom, on field trips, and throughout the school.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with special needs children (An asset).
- Degree from an Early Childhood Educator program or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (An asset).
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
