Construction & Landscaping Lead Hand – Decks, Fences, Hardscaping & Equipment
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Construction & Landscaping Lead Hand to join our team in Saskatoon. This position is best suited for someone with a strong hands-on background in residential construction, landscaping, hardscaping, decks, fences, grading, and equipment operation.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who can help lead projects, understand measurements, grades and elevations, work safely, and make good decisions on site. The right person will be able to work with a crew, assist with planning and layout, solve problems as they come up, and help deliver quality work on residential projects.
Metal roofing, cladding and framing is also a major part of the work we offer.
Commercial & residential exterior construction and landscaping, including decks, fences, patios, retaining walls, grading, drainage, concrete prep, irrigation, and general exterior repairs.
This is a full-time, year-round position with steady seasonal work. In the winter, team members are involved in snow removal services, including sidewalks, entrances, driveways, and parking lots for residential and commercial properties.
Responsibilities
- Lead and assist with daily construction and landscaping work on residential projects
- Help coordinate crew members, materials, tools, and equipment on site
- Read basic measurements, understand grades and elevations, and assist with layout
- Build and repair decks, fences, stairs, railings, and other exterior structure
- Complete grading, drainage, base preparation, and general site work
- Assist with patios, paving stones, retaining walls, hardscaping, and landscape construction
- Assist with concrete forming, prep, repairs, and small concrete projects
- Install, repair, or troubleshoot irrigation systems when required
- Operate skid steers, compact equipment, trailers, and small tools as needed
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Train, guide, and support other crew members when needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, trailers, and work areas in a professional manner
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, team members, and clients when required
- Troubleshoot job site issues and help keep projects moving forward
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in construction, landscaping, hardscaping, exterior renovation, or a related trade
- Experience building decks, fences, patios, retaining walls, or similar residential projects
- Strong understanding of measurements, layout, grades, elevations, and drainage
- Experience operating equipment such as skid steers, compact loaders, trailers, and power tools is strongly preferred
- Ability to lead or assist in leading a small crew
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and make practical decisions on site
- Physical ability to perform manual work, including lifting, digging, bending, carrying materials, and working outdoors
- Valid driver’s licence preferred
- Must currently live in or near Saskatoon and be able to report to work locally
Assets, But Not Required
- Class 5G licence or other driver endorsements
- Trailer experience
- Skid steer, loader, or equipment training
- Fall protection, first aid, or other safety certificates
- Concrete, irrigation, or hardscape experience
- Horticulture, landscaping, or construction-related certificates
- Experience with residential renovations, framing, carpentry, or exterior siding and roofing.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
