Program Overview
Strengthening Fathers is a community-based program that supports male identifying caregivers to ensure the safety and well-being of children, partners, and other family members. The program provides Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 supports.
The focus of the program includes understanding and addressing the root causes of family violence, strengthening well-being, preventing family violence, reducing risk, and connecting male identifying caregivers with the right services and supports at the right time to repair harm and create safer family environments.
Position Summary
The Program Facilitator delivers psycho-educational programming and provides direct support to male identifying caregivers through individual and group-based services. This role focuses on relationship building, reflective practice, behaviour change, and supporting participants in developing healthier parenting practices and stronger family relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with male identifying caregivers, families, or high-risk populations
- Strong group facilitation and communication skills
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office and tools such as Canva
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Core Responsibilities
Program Planning and Service Delivery
- Plan and deliver evidence-based psycho-educational programs and workshops for male identifying caregivers
- Support delivery of Tier 1 community-based events and outreach activities
- Facilitate and guide group discussions in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
- Provide individual support, coaching, and/or clinical counselling to participants
- Support participants in addressing parenting challenges, understanding the impacts of behaviour on children and families, and reducing risks of violence
- Assist participants with referrals and connections to community-based services and supports
- Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, and community partners
- Travel regularly within assigned regions to support programming and participant engagement
Reflective Practice and Team Collaboration
- Participate in individual and group supervision with the Program Coordinator
- Engage in ongoing reflective practice and professional development
- Participate in clinical supervision where applicable
- Attend team meetings and contribute to collaborative planning and service delivery
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete accurate and timely documentation related to programming and participant support
- Collect and review participant feedback and evaluation forms
- Maintain professional communication through email and phone
- Support scheduling, registration, and program coordination activities
- Contribute to data collection and reporting requirements
Organizational Support
- Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to support participant needs
- Identify and communicate program trends, risks, and service gaps to the Program Coordinator
- Participate in onboarding, orientation, and ongoing organizational training
- Contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and professional team environment
Operational Responsibilities
- Track and submit expenses, program spending, and required documentation
- Manage scheduling, workload, and competing priorities
- Maintain records related to programming materials and participant supports
- Support overall program operations as required
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
