Overview

Join our dynamic veterinary team at Sydney Animal Hospital, as a Veterinary Assistant and become a vital part of providing compassionate, high-quality care to animals and support to pet owners. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work alongside licensed veterinarians and technicians, assisting with daily clinical tasks, animal handling, and maintaining a clean, organized environment. Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures with enthusiasm and precision
Handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their visit
Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean clinical environment in accordance with safety standards
Collect samples such as blood, urine, or feces for laboratory testing, demonstrating laboratory experience when applicable
Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with pet owners about procedures, medications, and post-visit care instructions
Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files diligently to ensure seamless care continuity
Support inventory management by restocking supplies and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly

Qualifications

Prior laboratory experience is highly desirable to support sample collection and processing tasks
Strong animal handling skills combined with a caring attitude toward animals of all sizes and temperaments
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners, team members, and veterinarians
Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the veterinary field
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with animal care

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
