Position Summary:
Primary responsibility is to maintain and support the production lines while directing Maintenance personnel. This includes but is not limited to: PLC and robot programming & troubleshooting, manufacturing process improvements, and mechanical improvements to tooling and equipment. Conformance to customer requirements. Must have programming experience with Allen Bradley & Siemens PLCs, and FANUC robots
What you can look forward to as a Manufacturing Engineer:
- Min of 3 years’ experience
- Supporting production to ensure all equipment functions and systems are restored in a timely manner in case of a line stoppage event or a breakdown.
- Providing Engineering support to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Troubleshooting equipment and systems to find and fix the root cause of an issue.
- Programming and troubleshooting I/O blocks, sensors, vision systems, barcode readers, Allen-Bradley & Siemens PLCs/HMIs, servos & servo drives, and Fanuc robots.
- Configuring, programming, and troubleshooting Atlas Copco electronic assembly tools and controllers.
- Accountable for the successful completion of assigned Engineering projects.
- Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and management aspects of assigned projects with Maintenance staff and outside vendors.
- Collaborating and sharing work with other MEs when needed to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.
- Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing processes.
- Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
- Identifying and analyzing gaps in manufacturing processes and developing contingency plans in case of equipment or system failures.
- Gathering, analyzing, and providing customers with technical data when requested.
- Assisting and supporting customer trials.
- Accountable for championing and successfully maintaining defined Engineering areas of focus.
- Participating in daily meetings with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Materials, and Operations personnel.
- Documenting detailed shift reports and sharing with the internal team.
- Working closely with division management to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
- Designing and developing manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, new products and related fixtures/tooling which are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
- Assist in the preparation of Engineering project proposals.
- Procurement of equipment and tooling essential to the effective operation of the department.
- Develop RFQ, vendor selection, requisition development, and invoice reconciliation.
- Ensure effective Engineering communications.
Your Profile as a Manufacturing Engineer:
- Knowledge of manufacturing concepts.
- Strong background in PLCs, Robotics, and error-proofing methods and equipment. Working knowledge of OHSA, other applicable legislation, TS 16949, IATF 16949.
- Experience in working with multiple discipline projects.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Excellent skills with Microsoft's line of software products.
- Previous experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with electronic torque assembly tools considered an asset.
- Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a Just-In-Time manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of problem resolution methodologies.
Additional Skills and experience:
- Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs/HMIs, Fanuc robotics, Banner and Cognex vision systems and fixed barcode readers.
- Servos and servo drives training is considered an asset.
- Previous program and project management training considered an asset.
