REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING
To effectively manage the service and delivery systems of Catering and Convention Services in support of the Company’s objective of maximizing profitability through the management of space commitments while exceeding guest expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage performance/sales goals of Catering Associates
- Create and Execute Monthly Initiatives to build revenues
- Identify and address Departmental training needs
- Develop annual budget and ensure it is achieved
- Evaluation and selection of Catering prospects
- Develop marketing plans and selling strategies with Sales and Marketing Department
- Asses competitive elements within local market
- Monitor service standards of both Catering and Banquet Departments
- Secure inbound business leads and inquiries that support the hotel’s objective of maximizing revenue by evaluating client buying potential
- Execute direct sales efforts to target catering accounts in order to increase all types of catering business for the Hotel
- Perform sales activities such as sales calls, site inspections, entertainment and sales presentations
- Promote the Hotel, including both the property and services, while maintaining a high level of personal contacts with clients and providing them with professional advice
- Prepare proposals and bid on potential business
- Maximize utilization of the Company’s facilities so as to maximize revenue
- To meet and exceed client expectations to ensure the success of every event
- Maintain and update a database of prospective and existing clients with detailed information profiles about their potential
- Take a lead role in communicating client expectations to all Operating Departments through Group Resumes and Banquet Event Orders
- Conduct site inspections as required for conventions, corporate and group business
- Conducting pre-event meetings, and post-conference meetings with departing groups to address strengths weaknesses of an event while soliciting repeat business
- Catering menu design
- Produce monthly reports, revenue forecasts and commentary
- To contract and coordinate catering only groups
- Respond to all booking inquires on day of receipt
- Conduct client site Inspections
- Manage Cross Departmental Client Service Issues
- Conduct bi-weekly Department Meeting
- Manage department payroll
- Meet clients on the day of the event and resolve all client concerns as required
- Support the Catering Departmental Goal of SUPER Events
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8-10 years of experience in Catering Sales, Banquets or related position
- College Diploma, University Degree from a Hospitality related program an asset
- Good command of English is essential both written and verbal
- Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Must be decisive and have the ability to work under stressful situations, handling several tasks at a time
- Working knowledge of OnQ PM , Sales Force or Delphi an asset
- Proven leadership skills required
- Must have advanced interpersonal skills for dealing with clients, peers and managers
- A friendly and courteous disposition is required
- Due to business levels working extended hours is sometimes required, including weekends and evenings
