POSITION: Maintenance Coordinator (1 Position)

DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services (EVS)

SHIFT: 8:30Am – 4:00pm 35 hours per week (Flexible start and end times)

STATUS: Seasonal Full-Time

RATE OF PAY: $17.60

We are seeking a dynamic and reliable individual to step into our open Maintenance Coordinator role in our Long-Term Care Home, who will work enthusiastically in a client- and family-centered environment that supports comprehensive services and ensures a safe, well-maintained living space for residents. Reporting directly to the Environmental Services Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing maintenance operations, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and facility upkeep, to support the safety, comfort, and overall functionality of the home.

KEY ROLE DUTIES:

Assist maintenance staff with basic repair tasks such as tightening screws, replacing light bulbs, assembling small equipment, or minor patching/painting (no electrical or plumbing work).
Support routine inspections of hallways, common areas, resident rooms, and outdoor areas to identify potential maintenance needs.
Help maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the building and grounds.
Support the completion of basic work orders under supervision (e.g., adjusting furniture, moving items, minor fixture adjustments).
Organize tools, prepare materials for maintenance tasks, and help clean up work areas after jobs are completed.
Assist in reporting and documenting maintenance issues for follow-up.
Assist with scheduled preventative tasks such as checking and restocking supplies, cleaning filters, lubricating simple equipment, and monitoring temperature logs.
Help ensure maintenance storage rooms are organized, safe, and properly stocked.
Support outdoor maintenance such as watering plants, light gardening, sweeping walkways, and cleaning outdoor seating areas.
Assist with seasonal tasks like snow shoveling (light areas), salting entryways, or collecting yard debris.
Follow all LTC safety rules, PPE guidelines, and infection prevention procedures.
Assist with cleaning and sanitizing high-touch surfaces in maintenance workspaces.
Report any hazards, spills, or safety concerns immediately to the Maintenance Coordinator.
Help track and organize maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
Assist with taking inventory, labeling items, and storing materials safely.
Support basic equipment checks such as visual inspections (no troubleshooting or repairs by student).
Assist with sorting, filing, or updating maintenance forms, checklists, and supply logs.
Help prepare simple reports or summaries requested by the Maintenance Coordinator.
Support communication between maintenance and other departments by delivering forms or notices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) required; post-secondary education or certification in Building Maintenance, Facilities Management, Skilled Trades, or a related field is considered an asset.
Good command of the English language (English reading and writing test will be administered)
Ability and willingness to provide a service that enhances the dignity and respects the cultural and racial diversity of our staff and residents.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
