Ethos Workplace Interiors, backed by Buy Rite Business Furnishings, is looking for a senior relationship-builder to help grow our presence in Vancouver’s design, construction, real estate, and business community.
This is a business development role for someone who knows how to create opportunity, not simply wait for it. The right person can build trust before there is an active project on the table, develop relationships with designers, architects, contractors, project managers, business owners, and workplace decision-makers, and turn those relationships into profitable, well-managed workplace projects.
We are looking for someone who comes with relevant experience and can contribute quickly. Experience in commercial interiors, workplace furniture, architectural products, A&D sales, construction, tenant improvement, commercial real estate, or another project-based B2B sales environment is strongly preferred.
Ethos is being built as a premium, practical workplace interiors brand for organizations that care about design, function, service, and execution. Buy Rite Business Furnishings is the established operating platform behind it, with a state-of-the-art working showroom, vendor relationships, quoting support, project management, delivery, installation, and more than 25 years of local commercial furniture experience.
Ethos is the growth brand. Buy Rite is the engine behind it.
We are looking for the right person to help carry that story into the market.
The Opportunity
You will help grow Ethos as a trusted workplace interiors brand in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
Your work will focus on creating qualified opportunities, building long-term relationships, reactivating strong past accounts, and helping clients furnish beautiful, functional commercial spaces.
You will be supported by an established business, an experienced operations team, a working showroom, design and quoting resources, vendor relationships, and a growing brand platform. But the expectation is clear: this role requires initiative, follow-through, and commercial judgment.
The right person will be proactive in the market, disciplined in follow-up, thoughtful with relationships, and sharp enough to know which opportunities are worth pursuing.
What You’ll Do
You will build relationships and generate qualified project opportunities with:
· Interior designers and architects
· General contractors and project managers
· Commercial real estate brokers
· Business owners, executives, and operations leaders
· Facilities and workplace decision-makers
· Past clients and dormant accounts
· Strategic referral partners
You will help make Ethos more visible by attending industry events, organizing showroom events, creating partner conversations, and following up in a way that turns goodwill into real pipeline.
On active opportunities, you will guide clients through workplace furniture and interiors decisions, including needs discovery, budget, timing, product direction, floor plan considerations, proposal review, and next steps.
You do not need to be an interior designer. You do need to be design-aware, professional, curious, organized, and confident in a consultative sales environment.
What Success Looks Like
Success means building a strong book of profitable, relationship-led commercial opportunities.
Our ideal project size is $50,000+, with a focus on medium-complexity workplace projects. We have a well-defined target margin and are not looking to grow by chasing low-margin, high-chaos work.
A strong performer will:
· Create new opportunities we would not otherwise have
· Build credibility with Vancouver’s design, construction, real estate & business communities
· Develop a meaningful self-generated pipeline
· Reactivate high-potential past accounts
· Represent the company independently and professionally
· Protect client expectations, project timelines, and margin
· Use HubSpot and internal systems consistently
· Collaborate well with the team
· Create profitable revenue without creating operational disorder
Who You Are
You are a relationship-led business development professional with strong instincts.
You are comfortable walking into a room where you do not know everyone, starting meaningful conversations, asking thoughtful questions, qualifying opportunities, and following up with discipline.
You understand that trust is built over time, but business development requires momentum. You are patient with relationships, but not passive with opportunity.
You may have experience in commercial furniture, workplace interiors, architectural products, A&D sales, construction or tenant improvement, commercial real estate relationships, flooring, lighting, textiles, finishes, or another project-based B2B sales environment involving longer cycles and multiple stakeholders.
Furniture or design industry experience is strongly preferred. Candidates from parallel industries will need to show a clear track record of building relationships that turned into measurable revenue.
You’ll Likely Thrive Here If You…
· Can create your own pipeline rather than relying only on inbound leads
· Have sold into, around, or alongside the design, construction, commercial real estate, or business owner ecosystem
· Are energized by design, business, and workplace environments
· Care about both revenue and reputation
· Understand that margin matters
· Follow through proactively
· Use CRM and documented next steps properly
· Can work independently while respecting team process
· Take pride in representing a brand well
· Want to help build something with long-term value
This Is Probably Not the Right Role If You…
· Want autonomy without accountability
· Need a steady stream of inbound leads to be successful
· Prefer account maintenance over new business development
· Enjoy networking but avoid turning conversations into pipeline
· Sell mainly by discounting
· Overpromise to win business and leave the team to solve the problem later
Compensation
· Base salary: $75,000-$95,000, depending on experience and fit
· Performance-based commission tied to profitable, delivered, collected revenue
· Stronger upside for self-generated opportunities
· Car / phone allowance
· Health and dental benefits
As the role matures, strong performers should have a realistic path to $110,000-$150,000+ total compensation, supported by strong gross margin from business development activity.
We are open to structuring compensation thoughtfully for the right person, but we are looking for someone who understands that long-term upside is earned through results, trust, and contribution.
Work Format
This is a Vancouver-based hybrid role. You will spend time in our showroom, in the field, at client and partner meetings, at industry events, and working independently to build relationships and move opportunities forward.
This is not a fully remote role. Presence matters with clients, partners, the team, and the market.
How to Apply
Please send your resume along with a short note answering the following:
1. What kind of business relationships have you built that turned into real revenue?
2. What industries or communities do you already have credibility in?
3. Tell us about a time you created an opportunity that did not come from an inbound lead.
4. What does a great client experience mean to you in a project-based business?
We are looking for someone with the maturity, drive, and judgment to help build something meaningful.
If that sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
