The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Sous Chef to join our dynamic team!
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in ensuring an incredible culinary experience for members and guests.
The Sous Chef helps create and execute exciting dishes, assists with leading the Kitchen team, cultivates a team orientated environment, and ensures that culinary quality is top-notch for members and guests. The successful candidate is eager to learn, passionate about cooking, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in the daily management and operation of all kitchen activities, ensuring smooth and efficient service across multiple dining outlets and events.
- Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, providing direction, support, and supervision to the culinary team.
- Support menu development by contributing creative ideas, seasonal features, and innovative culinary offerings that enhance the member experience.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and inventory levels to maximize efficiency while minimizing waste and controlling costs.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels and product quality.
- Ensure all food preparation and storage practices comply with health regulations, food safety standards, and club policies.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to execute member events, tournaments, banquets, and special functions to the highest standard.
- Participate in staff scheduling and workflow planning to ensure appropriate coverage and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment that reflects the standards of a premier private club.
- Build strong relationships with members and guests by taking pride in delivering exceptional culinary experiences and responding to feedback with professionalism and care.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Chef and Director of Clubhouse & Restaurants in support of Club operations and member experience.
Qualifications:
- A passion for culinary excellence, with a strong foundation in food preparation techniques, product knowledge, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a full-service restaurant, private club, hotel, or comparable culinary environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, such as Chef, Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing culinary team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Valid FoodSafe Certificate (Level 1 minimum)
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm, professional, and positive under pressure.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
