The Opportunity
As the Director of Finance & Operations, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the financial strength, operational effectiveness, people and culture, and long-term sustainability of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the Leadership Team, you will provide strategic financial leadership while overseeing the Foundation's core operational functions, including finance, grant administration, people and culture, business systems, technology, and organizational compliance. You'll work closely with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, Leadership Team, and Board to support informed decision making, sound financial stewardship, and organizational growth.
As part of a small, collaborative team, this is a broad and hands-on leadership role. While you will currently lead one direct report, your influence extends across the organization. You'll be an active part of how the Foundation works and how it feels to work here - strengthening systems, improving processes, supporting a positive and values-driven culture, leading the annual financial audit, overseeing grant funding, and helping shape the Foundation's future while making a meaningful impact on healthcare in the North Okanagan.

How You'll Make an Impact
Financial Leadership & Stewardship
- Lead the Foundation's budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and long-term financial planning.
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and recommendations that support strategic decision making.
- Lead the annual financial audit and maintain strong financial controls, compliance, and accountability.
- Ensure the Foundation's financial resources are managed responsibly to support its mission and long-term sustainability.
Grant & Funding Management
- Oversee the Foundation's grant application and funding administration processes from opportunity identification through reporting and compliance.
- Partner with organizational leaders to align funding opportunities with strategic priorities.
- Ensure grant commitments, reporting requirements, and funding obligations are effectively managed.
Operational Leadership
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to a small team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to implement strategic priorities and annual operational plans.
- Champion a positive, inclusive and values-driven workplace culture that supports employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Lead employee engagement and organizational culture initiatives, including employee surveys and related action planning, while working with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to promote organizational values and behaviours.
- Lead the operational planning and implementation of organizational change initiatives, working alongside the Executive Director and Leadership Team to support effective communication, engagement and adoption.
- Monitor organizational performance, key metrics, and operational risks while identifying opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness.
Organizational Leadership
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to a small team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to implement strategic priorities and annual operational plans.
- Monitor organizational performance, key metrics, and operational risks while identifying opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness.
What You Bring
You are a collaborative, people-focused leader who combines strong financial expertise with a genuine interest in how organizations and teams thrive. You enjoy being an active part of a small team and are equally comfortable providing strategic financial leadership, strengthening systems and processes, and helping create an environment where people can do their best work.
You'll also bring:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in financial management and operations, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational finances, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
- Experience coordinating or leading annual financial audits and working with external auditors.
- Experience overseeing grant administration, project accounting, or funding compliance.
- A hands-on, people-focused leadership approach, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution in a small, collaborative organization.
- Experience improving processes, implementing systems, and driving operational efficiencies.
- Leadership experience providing coaching, mentorship, and support within a small team.
- Experience supporting employee engagement, organizational culture, or change initiatives is considered an asset.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with Boards, committees, funding partners, vendors, and community stakeholders.
- Experience with CRM or donor management systems; DonorPerfect experience is considered an asset.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent senior-level expertise in financial management, accounting (including funding accounting), budgeting and financial reporting is considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business systems.
- The flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends in support of Foundation initiatives
What We Offer
- Competitive total compensation package, including a salary range of $95,000 to $120,000 per year, comprehensive benefits, and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan. Salaries are aligned with experience and qualifications, with the midpoint of the range reflecting full competency in the role.
