Shifts:
- Days: 0700 – 1500
- Afternoons: 1200 – 2000
Wage:
- Starting wage: $24.50 per hour
- Wage increases at 1500 hours worked
- Additional increases at 2500, 5000, 7500, and 10,000 hours worked

Our residence:
Opened in 2021, The Vineyards Residence is a state-of-the-art five-storey, 134-suite residence offering Enhanced Assisted Living and Memory Care services to the Okanagan region.
Our residence is designed around small neighbourhoods of 16–17 suites, creating a comfortable home-like environment where residents build meaningful relationships with their caregivers and neighbours.
This neighbourhood model allows our team to provide personalized, resident-centered care while fostering familiarity, comfort, and connection.
Position Summary:
The Activity Worker plays an important role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing engaging recreational, social, physical, cognitive and leisure activities that promote independence, purpose, and meaningful connections.
Working as part of the Recreation & Wellness team, the Activity Worker supports individual and group programs while building positive relationships with residents, families and fellow team members.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Engagement:
- Build meaningful relationships with residents
- Encourage participation in recreational programs
- Support residents according to their abilities and interests
- Promote dignity, independence and choice
- Provide companionship and emotional support
Recreation Programming:
- Assist with planning and delivering daily recreation programs
- Lead or assist with group activities, games, music, crafts, exercise, baking and special events
- Support community outings and bus trips
- Decorate neighbourhoods for holidays and special occasions
- Encourage resident participation and celebrate successes
Individual Resident Support:
- Provide one-to-one visits with residents
- Assist residents to and from activities as required
- Support residents living with dementia using person-centred approaches
- Observe resident participation and report changes to the Recreation Manager or nursing team
Documentation & Communication:
- Complete attendance records and activity documentation
- Communicate resident participation and concerns to the interdisciplinary team
- Assist with calendars, activity schedules and program preparation
- Help maintain recreation supplies and equipment
Team Support:
- Assist with meal service when required
- Prepare activity areas before programs
- Clean and organize recreation spaces following activities
- Work collaboratively with all departments to create meaningful resident experiences
- Participate in meetings and education sessions
Safety & Quality Care:
- Follow infection prevention and control practices
- Demonstrate safe work practices
- Maintain resident confidentiality
- Report safety concerns promptly
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
- Current First Aid / CPR Certification (preferred)
- Food Safe Certificate (preferred)
- WHMIS Certification
- Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector
- Basic computer skills
- No Recreation Diploma is required.
- Equivalent education, training and experience will be considered.
Experience:
- Experience working with seniors is considered an asset
- Experience supporting residents living with dementia is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Friendly, energetic and compassionate personality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organization and time management skills
