POSITION SUMMARY
Program Staff at Connections Place work side-by-side with members to support the daily operation of the Clubhouse, a community-based mental health recovery program operating in accordance with the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs. Through this shared work, Program Staff support members in building meaningful roles within the Clubhouse and the broader community.
KEY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS
Program Staff have a central responsibility of ensuring members play an active, integral role in the design, delivery, and evaluation of Clubhouse activities and operations. Responsibilities may vary depending on program needs and evolving priorities of the community:
Member Engagement and Participation
· Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and recovery-oriented environment where members feel valued and encouraged to contribute.
· Work collaboratively with members to identify and pursue personal goals related to employment, education, wellness, and community participation.
· Ensure member perspectives guide the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Clubhouse programs and activities.
· Encourage member leadership, participation, and shared decision-making within the Clubhouse.
· Conduct outreach and maintain supportive connections with Clubhouse members.
Employment and Community Opportunities
· Support the operation and development of Transitional Employment placements in the community, including training, scheduling, and coordination with employers.
· Work with members to explore Supported and Independent Employment opportunities.
· Build and maintain relationships with employers and community partners.
· Support members in pursuing education, volunteer work, and other community opportunities.
· Represent Connections Place professionally with employers and external partners.
Unit Work and Daily Operations
· Work alongside members in the operational tasks that support the daily functioning of the Clubhouse and its units.
· Engage members in planning, organizing, and completing unit work and daily activities.
· Participate in reception, tours, publications, and administrative activities.
· Assist with menu planning, food preparation, kitchen organization and shared space maintenance.
· Support the planning and coordination of Clubhouse events and activities.
Organizational Responsibilities
· Work in accordance with the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs.
· Maintain knowledge of the Clubhouse International model and philosophy.
· Support Connections Place in maintaining its accreditation with Clubhouse International.
· Uphold the mission, vision, values, and policies of Connections Place.
· Exercise discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information.
· Complete required program documentation and administrative reporting (e.g., incident reports, timesheets) accurately and in a timely manner.
· Perform other duties as required.

· Ensure members are provided with unit work, housing, employment, volunteer, community support, and social opportunities
· Ensure members are given the opportunity to be involved in the decision-making, delivery of services and evaluation of the Clubhouse
· Provide outreach and community support services to members, as well as participate in social and recreation programs with members
· Planning and organizing skills are necessary for social events
· Perform other related duties as required
Working Environment and Operational Expectations
The Clubhouse environment is active and collaborative, and staff must be able to participate in a variety of operational tasks throughout the day.
· Staff may be required to work independently at times, including during social programming, outreach activities, evenings, weekends, or statutory holidays when supervisory staff may not be present.
· Staff must follow established safety procedures when completing operational tasks, including food preparation and kitchen work involving hot or sharp equipment.
· The role requires the ability to work cooperatively with others and respond professionally during emotionally complex situations, including supporting members who may be experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree or diploma in the Social Services field and minimum one year experience working with people with mental health conditions, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
· A strong understanding of mental health recovery and community-based supports.
· Attended, or willing to attend, Clubhouse International Colleague Training.
· Knowledge and skills in crisis intervention.
· Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English.
· Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
· Access to a reliable vehicle and possession of a valid BC driver’s license.
· Current Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 or equivalent and CPR.
· Current Food Safe Level 1.
· A satisfactory completion of Criminal Records Check is required.
· Completion of applicable COVID-19 vaccinations and proof thereof in compliance with the Order of the Provincial Health Officer.
· Yearly completion of Influenza Immunization no later than the first week of December or other date as established by the Provincial Health Officer annually.
· This role requires availability to work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays as part of a rotating schedule with all Clubhouse staff.

This is a four-month temporary position providing coverage during a staff leave. The position is expected to end on December 31, 2026. There may be an opportunity for ongoing employment following the term, depending on organizational needs and available funding; however, continued employment is not guaranteed.
Pay: $27.00 per hour
