Nova Inn Wabasca is looking for a dependable, experienced Cooks to join our hotel kitchen team.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing quality food, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and working as part of a team. Our kitchen serves hotel guests, restaurant customers, work crews, groups, and special events.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and hotel standards.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner as scheduled.
- Assist with prep work and daily kitchen duties.
- Ensure food is prepared consistently and presented properly.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and temperature procedures.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen.
- Complete daily and scheduled cleaning duties.
- Properly clean and maintain fryers, grills, cooking equipment, and work areas.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries.
- Rotate food using proper FIFO procedures and help reduce food waste.
- Maintain appropriate portion control.
- Assist with inventory when required.
- Work cooperatively with cooks, servers, dishwashers, front desk, and hotel management.
- Follow all Nova Inn policies, Health & Safety procedures, and Alberta food safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience preferred.
- Food Handler/Food Safe Certification required within the required training period.
- Knowledge of food preparation and commercial kitchen sanitation.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Dependable and able to attend scheduled shifts consistently.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Must be willing to follow established recipes, cleaning procedures, and hotel policies.
- Must be available for a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Red Seal or culinary training is an asset but not required.
