Lead from the Front. Build Work You’re Proud Of.
LAING is looking for an experienced Architectural Sheet Metal leader to join our growing team.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates professionally, leads by example, and wants to continue growing as a leader within the trade and construction industry.
Our work goes beyond basic flashing and standard cladding systems. LAING specializes in complex commercial roofing, architectural sheet metal, wall systems, and building envelope projects that require strong technical understanding, planning, coordination, and attention to detail.
Because of the complexity of our work, we recognize that experience alone does not always define the right fit. A candidate with strong leadership ability, accountability, communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the right attitude may be a better long-term fit than someone with more years of experience in less technical environments.
At LAING, we believe leadership matters. We are committed to building strong teams, developing people, maintaining high standards, and creating a culture where safety, craftsmanship, accountability, and professionalism are part of the day-to-day — not just words on paper.
For nearly 40 years, LAING has been delivering complex commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal projects across British Columbia and the Yukon. Our teams work on some of the region’s most challenging and visible building envelope projects — the kind of work you can drive past years later and still be proud to say you helped build.
As our company continues to grow, we are looking for leaders who want to grow with us — people who care about doing the job right, supporting their crews, maintaining high standards, and helping carry the company’s direction into the field.
Why Join Laing?
LAING is not a company focused on doing the bare minimum or remaining stagnant. We continue to grow across British Columbia, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Western Canada by pursuing larger, more complex commercial roofing, architectural sheet metal, wall systems, and building envelope projects.
We are building a company designed for long-term growth — one that invests heavily in its people, leadership teams, safety systems, operational structure, and project support.
At LAING, foremen are not expected to simply “figure it out” on their own. Our project teams, superintendents, safety department, HR, and senior leadership work closely together to help support projects, crews, planning, documentation, safety, and long-term development across the organization.
We understand that strong leadership in the field requires more than technical ability alone. The people who succeed at LAING are organized, accountable, safety-focused, professional, willing to learn, and able to lead within a structured and team-oriented environment.
This is a company for people who:
- Take pride in quality workmanship
- Want to work on technically challenging projects
- Value accountability, professionalism, and communication
- Care about safety and building strong teams
- Want long-term opportunity and career growth
- Want to continue developing as leaders — not just installers
What we offer:
- Competitive compensation based on experience, leadership ability, and qualifications
- Paid overtime when operationally required
- Company vehicle and fuel support (where applicable)
- Extended health and dental benefits
- RRSP matching program
- Ongoing leadership development and training opportunities
- Structured operational support from experienced project teams and leadership
- Stable, year-round work with a company committed to long-term growth
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Successful leaders at LAING create organized, professional job sites where crews understand the plan, quality standards remain high, and work is completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
They communicate clearly, think ahead, support their teams, and take ownership of both the work and the people performing it. They understand that strong leadership involves far more than production alone — it means setting the tone for safety, workmanship, accountability, communication, professionalism, and job site culture every day.
Because of the technical nature of our work, successful leaders in this role also understand the importance of sequencing, coordination, planning, problem solving, and attention to detail. Our projects often involve complex architectural sheet metal systems, advanced flashing details, wall systems, and building envelope assemblies that require strong collaboration between crews, project teams, consultants, and other trades.
At LAING, our foremen are actively involved in projects from the beginning. They work closely with project teams, superintendents, and senior leadership through project startup and planning discussions to help ensure projects are organized, supported, and set up for success before work begins on site.
Our foremen also play an active role in developing their teams. From mentoring apprentices and supporting newer workers to participating in performance discussions, hiring conversations, and leadership development initiatives, we believe strong leaders help build strong crews.
At LAING, leadership development is ongoing.
Our foremen participate in regular leadership development meetings where leaders from both Roofing and Architectural Sheet Metal work together with superintendents, safety, HR, and senior leadership to continue strengthening communication, accountability, planning, operational consistency, and leadership skills across the company.
These discussions are collaborative, practical, and focused on real operational challenges, team development, safety leadership, planning, and maintaining high standards across every level of the organization.
The people who succeed at LAING are typically those who:
- Lead by example and hold themselves to a high standard
- Take pride in quality workmanship and attention to detail
- Communicate professionally with crews, clients, consultants, and project teams
- Plan ahead and stay organized under pressure
- Take safety, documentation, and accountability seriously
- Support and mentor apprentices and developing team members
- Approach problems with professionalism, urgency, and a solutions-focused mindset
- Want to continue learning, developing, and growing as leaders
- Care about building strong teams — not just completing projects
At LAING, foremen play a critical role in shaping both the success of our projects and the future development of our teams.
What You Can Expect at LAING
LAING continues to grow across British Columbia, the Yukon, and Western Canada by pursuing larger, more complex commercial roofing, architectural sheet metal, wall systems, and building envelope projects.
Our growth is intentional. We are focused not only on strengthening the company, but on creating long-term opportunity, stability, career development, and operational consistency for our people.
As LAING continues to grow, we are also continuing to build a more structured and systems-based organization designed to support communication, planning, leadership development, accountability, safety, and high standards across every level of the company.
At LAING, foremen are not expected to simply “figure it out” on their own. Our project teams, superintendents, safety department, HR, and senior leadership work closely together to support project startup, planning, coordination, documentation, safety, quality control, and long-term team development.
We are looking for leaders who understand that modern construction leadership involves more than production alone. Strong communication, organization, professionalism, accountability, planning, documentation, safety leadership, and the ability to work within a structured and team-oriented environment are all important parts of the role.
What we offer:
- Opportunity to work on complex commercial and architectural projects across British Columbia and the Yukon
- Exposure to technically challenging wall systems, custom architectural details, and advanced building envelope work
- A growing company with long-term opportunities for advancement and leadership development
- Organized operational support from project teams, superintendents, safety, HR, and senior leadership
- A company that invests heavily in safety, training, leadership development, and continuous improvement
- A team-oriented environment focused on professionalism, accountability, craftsmanship, and high standards
- Competitive compensation based on experience, leadership ability, and qualifications
- Paid overtime when operationally required

- Extended health and dental benefits
- RRSP matching program
- Ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities
- Stable, year-round work with a company committed to long-term growth
What It Takes to Succeed at LAING
Strong candidates often bring a combination of the following skills, experiences, and qualities:
- Experience within the Architectural Sheet Metal, building envelope, commercial roofing, cladding, or related construction industries
- Previous Lead Hand, Foreman, or leadership experience within commercial construction environments
- Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, job site coordination, sequencing, and crew leadership
- Experience with complex architectural sheet metal systems, wall systems, building envelope assemblies, and advanced flashing details is considered a strong asset
- Ability to read drawings, coordinate work effectively, solve problems, and maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism on site
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Commitment to safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
- Ability to work collaboratively with crews, project teams, superintendents, consultants, and leadership
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required
We recognize that not every strong candidate will come from the exact same background.
At LAING, we understand there is a significant difference between basic sheet metal, siding, or flashing work and the type of complex architectural, wall system, and building envelope projects our teams regularly perform. At the same time, we also recognize that leadership ability, attitude, accountability, communication style, professionalism, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn can be just as important as years of technical experience alone.
A strong leader with the right mindset, work ethic, and willingness to grow may ultimately be a better long-term fit than someone with more experience who is not aligned with the company’s standards, structure, or direction.
As LAING continues to grow, we are committed to identifying strong people, investing in leadership development, and helping the right individuals continue building their technical, operational, and leadership abilities over time.
The people who tend to succeed at LAING are those who:
- Take pride in their work and lead by example
- Communicate professionally and treat people with respect
- Hold themselves and their crews accountable to high standards
- Take safety, planning, documentation, and quality seriously
- Stay organized and solutions-focused under pressure
- Want to continue learning, developing, and growing as leaders
- Understand the importance of working within a structured, team-oriented environment
