The Whistler Sea Wolves Swim Club (WSSWC), a dynamic and growing competitive swim club located in Whistler, British Columbia, is seeking an experienced, passionate, and collaborative Head Coach to lead our program.
The Head Coach serves as the leader of the club's athletic vision and culture, responsible for athlete development, coach mentorship, program growth, and fostering a positive environment where swimmers of all levels can thrive. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors, coaching staff, athletes, and families to support both competitive excellence and long-term club sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Athlete Development
- Develop and implement comprehensive seasonal training and competition plans across all program levels.
- Establish clear athlete development pathways from pre-competitive through competitive programming.
- Lead goal setting, performance planning, and skill development for swimmers at all levels.
- Promote long-term athlete development principles, balancing competitive success with athlete wellbeing, retention, and lifelong participation in sport.
- Foster the athletic, emotional, and social growth of athletes while maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive training environment.
Coaching Staff Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches.
- Establish consistent coaching standards and best practices throughout the program.
- Support professional development opportunities for coaching staff.
- Foster a collaborative and positive coaching culture.
Club Leadership & Community Engagement
- Act as the club's primary coaching representative with athletes, families, Swim BC, Swim Canada, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain open and effective communication with athletes and parents regarding program expectations, athlete progress, and club initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to support strategic planning, club operations, and long-term growth.
- Contribute to member retention, recruitment initiatives, and the continued development of club programs.
Administration & Operations
- Assist with annual program planning, competition scheduling, and budget development.
- Ensure compliance with Swim BC, Swim Canada, NCCP, and Safe Sport requirements.
- Support the administration of meets, team travel, coach scheduling, and club events as required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience coaching within a competitive swim club environment.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or leading coaching staff.
- NCCP Level 2 certification
- Safe Sport training completed within the past five years.
- In good standing with Swim BC and Swim Canada requirements.
- Experience developing annual training plans and competition schedules.
- Experience working collaboratively with volunteer boards and club stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for swimming and commitment to athlete development at all levels.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive Annual Salary: $50,000 – $70,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
