Education Director

Part-Time+ Contract (25 hours per week)

Stevenson-Britannia Adult Learning Centre (SBALC), one of Manitoba’s leading adult education and literacy centres, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Education Director. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will provide leadership in program development, learner support, staff supervision, community partnerships, and organizational operations within a community-based, not-for-profit environment dedicated to supporting diverse adult learners.
The successful candidate will be an educator with broad teaching and administrative experience who demonstrates strong leadership, professionalism, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to adult education and community service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Centre
- Supervise staff and support professional development
- Develop policies, procedures, program plans, budgets, grants, and reports
- Ensure compliance with Adult Learning & Literacy (AL&L) requirements
- Support adult learners through advocacy, referrals, and problem-solving
- Oversee learner registration, curriculum support, and instructional quality
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Foster a respectful, collaborative, and supportive learning and working environment
- Maintain data management systems and organizational reporting requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
- A minimum of one year of post-baccalaureate education
- More than ten years of teaching experience, preferably including adult education and/or high school programming
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse staff, learners, and community partners
- Experience with grant writing and data management
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365
- An understanding of adult learning principles
Preferred assets include:
- A Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Advanced qualifications or experience in adult education and literacy programming
