Youth Connections

I have lived in youth connections for 3years now and I dont mind it. Funding for personal hygiene item and supplies could be better in ways like the amount of money we get for the supply's and how fast we get the money because it normally takes about 2-3 full weeks for the residents money requests to be fulfilled. The amount of trust and privileges for the residents whom has been there for for a long time and are trusted should get more trust respect and privileges and privacy. Overall my expiriance with youth connection is slowly getting better or I'm just getting used to to it. I think the the staff and managers of youth connections could be a lot better because us kids live here and we deserve to get the respect and trust and freedom that we have earned. Thank you for liciening to my review on youth connections thank you for liciening to it because it is a great youth working job yes there are a few past staff that might say otherwise but dont licien to them because none of that is true because staff are always treated with respect and there are many hours of work for every staff. If you are considering on working her please do go through with it because you can change things in this agency and remember the best and most chill house to work at is king house. Staff get treated horribly by management. Work for minimum wage for over 5 years with only receiving a $0.35 raise. Expected to work way more than 40 hours per week and when you are unavailable or need time off your shifts get cut by management. Often expected to work 16 hour days, or several hours of overtime a week. Management is not supportive and very rude and belittling to their staff. Clients can be challenging but are often the only enjoyable part of the work experience. Would NOT recommend working for this company. Not an inclusive work environment. Management and other staff gossip about one another. Management does not care or engages in with the gossip and negative comments. Have been verbally abused at work by co-workers and the management team.

Not the best place to work, it's a good experience and looks good on a resume but as a long term job it can be stressful. Especially if your paired with a coworker who doesnt have your back. There are clients that have challenging behaviors and it gets hard to make the group home function when you have to do it by yourself or paired with a soft spoken/new staff 

If your full time you work every weekend and get Wednesday/Thursday off which is hard to have a social life( along with being broke because of the low pay) I'm glad I worked at this agency for the time I did as I learned alot about the field and myself.

 The management definitely had my back in a lot of different circumstances which is a change from most group home agencies nowadays.



as a staff working here, I've seen a lot of things and communicated with a lot of my clients, my heart drops for the kids that come from the community to here. Few of the kids  have stated to me that they feel convicted for a crime that they never committed they have also stated that they feel trapped and that there is no freedom. My working experience here was awful and sad I could not deal with it any longer the staff  power trip so much but seem to forget that they get paid minimum wage the kids seem so stressed out and depressed but my co-workers pay no mind to it. So if I could tell you one thing and one thing only that will do not work here find a different location leave help the kids they get disconnected to the outside world.

Youth Connections comes off in the start as a great place to work. Some staff like to say one thing and then go tell management something completely different. Mangament is not good to deal with, As if you have to cancel shifts or not able to work on certain days they get very mad and cut your shifts. The amount of stuff that one has to go through in those homes is not worth what the pay is! Talk a big game, But are quick to let you go something doesn’t go right. Everyone talks and no policy’s are followed some of staff are rude to the clients and when clients trust staff and have a good repor with staff it’s not right. There are a lot of cons about working for this Company. 
The only thing good from this job is those kids.

It has ups and downs. Excellent experience if you want to build skills for a career in the field. however there is very little room for advancement, and pay is as low as it gets. Many of the staff work 16 hour shifts on a weekly basis. The program managers are great and most staff I have met are awesome, BUT there are some bad ones that seem to stick around for longer than they should. Working with the kids is extremely rewarding and you will have many memorable shifts.  

I started as a placement student and got hired on after completion. There was a good relationship between all staff, creating a positive work environment. Which is good when dealing with some clients as a lot of the population serviced have high behaviour needs. This position can be high stress depending on the level of behaviours in the home. When youth who are placed there do not have disruptive behaviours it can be an easy going place to work. Only minus of the job is that you make minimum wage after having to have a diploma to work here, however I worked here before Covid, so unsure if payment levels have changed.

Kids are challenging at times but you learn so much about how to deal with them.  Management is supportive and seem to really care about the staff and kids.  Yes the pay isn't great but the value of experience you get makes up for it.  

It is not a good workplace to be at. You are overworked and get paid minimum wage for work that should be getting paid way more. Management does not care about their workers and will over work them to the point where they will not have a social life and will not have any source of sanity.

The best part of the job was interacting with the youth. Playing sports with them, teaching them things, guiding them in the right direction, making them feel important, and teaching them how to correctly interact with others. I had a great working relationship with all of my co-workers and managers.
