DETOX AND REAGENTS OPERATOR

CENTRAL NL

JOB DESCRIPTION:

HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Detox and Reagents Operator on behalf of our client, Equinox Gold, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of operating experience in a processing plant, including 2 years of operating experience in the mining industry.

Reporting to the Process Plant Operations Supervisor, the Detox and Reagents Operator operates and monitors the system processing the residue resulting from the crushing, grinding and chemical treatment of the ore. The operator also performs all chemical products preparations. In addition, this role must ensure work is performed in accordance with health, safety and environmental and legislative requirements.

This position is located at the Project site, working on a 2 week in/2 week out rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment through personal behaviors and conversations.
Establish and promotes a respectful and healthy work environment at all times.
Be a courageous health, safety, and environment leader, adhere to and promote health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures.
Promotes a proactive approach of continuous improvement by reporting all Health, Safety and Environment incidents and communicates solutions.
Participate in Health, Safety and Environment initiatives, reviews, and investigations.
Perform pre-operational checks and operate equipment according to standard operating procedures.
Monitor equipment and processes, and conduct troubleshooting activities when problems arise, interacting with the Supervisor as required to correct.
Operate tailings thickener and tailings management facility inspections.
Perform plant housekeeping activities as required.
Complete operator reports and ensure that equipment deficiencies and operational issues are communicated to the supervisor.
Participate in crew safety meetings.
Support maintenance activities as required.
Complete training modules, exercises and testing required.
Ensure that the leaching and elution circuit is operating within specified limits.
Operate small, motorized equipment.
Communicate with supervisor regarding all aspects of grinding operations.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent; or a significant amount of related experience in a similar role is required.
Minimum of 5 years of operating experience in a processing plant, including 2 years of operating experience in the mining industry.
Experience working in a remote industrial environment will be considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:

Ability to understand mineral processing theory and practice.
Familiar with the safe work practices and standard operating procedures of a process plant.
Knowledge of process plant processes and ability to operate the equipment autonomously at the completion of the training period.
Ability to recognize hazards in an industrial workplace and understand their role in assessing and managing risk.
Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems and “trouble-shoot” abnormal situations to correct mechanical or process problems.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively with operations and maintenance personnel in the course of carrying out the duties.
Proficient with operating a computer and running process plant applications.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
Knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract
