Job Overview

Overland Container Transportation Services is looking for a Parts & Safety Administrator to join our team in Acheson, Alberta.

OCTS has proudly served Western Canada since 1989, providing safe, reliable, and customer-focused container transportation. Today, we offer a full range of intermodal services, including container drayage, repair, storage, warehousing, and transloading. We operate from both CN and CPKC terminals in Calgary and Edmonton and serve customers across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories.

We are looking for someone organized, dependable, and safety-minded who can support our shop operations through parts administration, inventory management, safety documentation, and general administrative support.

Responsibilities

Parts Administration

Manage inventory of parts and supplies, including minimum order quantities, stock levels, and storage locations.
Receive shipments, organize parts shelves, and properly store stock.
Maintain accurate records of damaged, used, returned, or defective parts.
Prepare and maintain inventory records, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and parts usage reports.
Keep spreadsheets and filing systems up to date.
Issue purchase orders for departments and vendors as required.
Maintain internal cost records on work orders.
Support implementation and data entry for a new parts system.
Assist mechanics and shop personnel with parts-related requests and ordering.
Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and suppliers.
Dispose of damaged or defective items or coordinate returns to vendors.
Provide backup support for transload administration as needed.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Shop Safety Administration

Ensure shop safety policies, procedures, and documentation are kept up to date.
Complete job hazard assessments and help identify corrective actions.
Support data entry of equipment inspections into DATS.
Help schedule equipment servicing to address identified deficiencies.
Participate in monthly shop and Gesco inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
Complete monthly first aid and fire extinguisher inspections.
Set up annual fire suppression and fire extinguisher inspections.
Assist with planning fire drills and man-down drills.
Maintain SDS binders or online safety inventory.
Help maintain safety-related documents, policies, and procedures.
Book training and maintain training records and certifications.
Participate in safety committee meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
Maintain PPE inventory levels and purchasing for Edmonton and Calgary.

Qualifications

Previous experience in parts administration, inventory control, shop administration, safety administration, or a related role is preferred.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Comfortable using spreadsheets, email, and digital systems.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Willingness to work in and around a shop environment.
Ability to perform physical tasks related to handling stockroom parts.

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
