Position Scope / Impact of Error :

Accountable to the Site Supervisor , the Operator , w orks with the site manager and supervisor ( s ) , on a d aily basis to ensure timely and accurate processes are followed in the preparation of our products and raw materials .

The Plant Operator , participates as an integra l member of the Canada Supply Chain team and performs duties in accordance with the mandate and priorities of Scotts Canada Ltd.

Impact of recommendations, decisions and actions made by the incumbent: Low to Moderate

Position Authority:

The Plant Operator makes recommendations to the Site S u pervisor (or designate) who makes the final decision.

Position Overview:

The Plant Operator is responsible for operating Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), front end loaders or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, move around finished palleted goods including loading/unloading trucks and flatbeds, prepares organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader, pushes or rel ocates piles to ensure segregation of materials. Supplies production with a continuous supply of material. Monitors the stockpiles for excessive heat, turns stockpiles, extinguishes small fires and ensures the proper amount of water is used to prepare the stockpile for production use.

The Plant Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties

T he Plant Operator may be required to work on holidays and weeke nds from time to time .

Specific Accountabilities:

Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, front end loader, or other power equipment;

Prepare organic mixes; Push or relocate piles to ensure segregation of materials; Supply production with a continuous stock of material;

Monitor stockpiles for excessive heat, turn s stockpiles, and extinguishes small fires; Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage;

Report quality variances; Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped;

Pe rform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards;

Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers;

Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions, as required;

Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion;

On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the PIT or ot her equipment;

Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods;

Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained;

Assist in physical inventories;

Assist in mai ntaining the security of the warehouse;

Carry out any additional duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications :

Ability to work in a team;

Must have at least one year experience operating a PIT or other heav y equipment;

Must be able to do basic math functions such as adding, subtracting and dividing;

Must be able to read and write;

Must be able to complete the pre-shift inspection forms;

Conduct themselves in a manner that promotes safety.

L'opérateur d'usine est responsable de l'utilisation de chariots industriels motor isés, de chargeurs frontaux ou d'autres équipements pour déplacer, localiser, relocaliser, empiler, compter les marchandises, déplacer des produits finis sur palettes, y compris le chargement/déchargement de camions et de plateaux, préparer des mélanges or ganiques à l'aide d'un chargeur d'équipement lourd, pousser ou relocaliser des piles pour assurer la ségrégation des matériaux. Alimenter la production avec un approvisionnement continu en matériaux. Surveiller les stocks pour éviter toute chaleur excessiv e, retourner les stocks, éteindre les petits feux et s'assurer que la quantité d'eau appropriée est utilisée pour préparer les stocks en vue de la production.

L'opérateur d'usine est responsable de la sécurité et de l'efficacité de l'utilisation du véhicu le et peut également être tenu d'effectuer des tâches de remplissage et de vérification des commandes.

L'opérateur d'usine peut être appelé à travailler les jours fériés et les fins de semaine de temps à autre.

Responsabilités spécifiques :

Charger, décharger, déplacer, empiler et mettre en scène des produits et des matériaux à l'aide d'un chariot élévateur à fourche, d'un camion à pince, d'un chargeur frontal ou de tout autre équipement motorisé ;

Préparer des mélanges organiques ;

Pousser o u déplacer les piles pour assurer la ségrégation des matériaux ;

Approvisionner la production avec un stock continu de matériaux ;

Surveiller les stocks pour détecter toute chaleur excessive, retourner les stocks et éteindre les petits feux ;

S'assurer que les expéditions entrantes et sortantes sont précises et exemptes de dommages ;

Signaler les écarts de qualité ;

Tirer et préparer les produits pour l'expédition, en s'assurant que le nombre et le type exacts de produits sont chargés et expédiés ;

Effectue r les tâches de préparation des commandes de manière efficace et conforme aux normes de service à la clientèle ;

Déplacer efficacement les produits des zones d'attente et/ou de stockage vers les remorques ;

Utiliser un équipement à radiofréquence pour les fonctions de prélèvement, de réception, d'entreposage et de chargement, selon les besoins ;

Maintenir l'équipement et le matériel de l'établissement dans un état de propreté et d'ordre ;

Sur une base quotidienne, inspecter et effectuer des entretiens mineu rs sur le PIT ou d'autres équipements ;

Utiliser tous les équipements de manière sûre et efficace en suivant les méthodes de travail prescrites ;

Tenir des registres et des rapports appropriés afin de garantir le maintien d'un contrôle rigoureux des stocks et de la sécurité ;

Participer aux inventaires physiques ;

Aider à maintenir la sécurité de l'entrepôt ;

Accomplir toute autre tâche qui lui est confiée.

Qualifications requises :

Capacité à travailler en équipe ;

Doit avoir au moins un an d'expérience dans la conduite d'un PIT ou d'autres équipements lourds ;

Doit être capable d'effectuer des fonctions mathématiques de base telles que l'addition, la soustraction et la division ;

Doit être capable de lire et d'écrire ;

Doit être capable de remplir les formulaires d'inspection avant le quart de travail ;

Se comporter d'une manière qui favorise la sécurité.
