Full job description

Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Traffic Controller and play a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and smooth flow of construction or utility projects. In this energetic position, you will coordinate vehicle and equipment movements on-site, manage traffic patterns, and support construction crews by maintaining a secure and organized work environment. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help keep everyone safe while facilitating project progress.

Duties

Direct and control the movement of construction vehicles, heavy equipment, and personnel around the site to prevent accidents and ensure timely operations
Set up appropriate signage, barriers, and safety devices to guide traffic flow effectively
Communicate clearly with equipment operators, construction teams, and external personnel to coordinate activities seamlessly
Monitor site conditions continuously, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective measures promptly
Assist with utility locating to ensure underground services are identified before excavation begins
Support heavy equipment operation by providing safe access routes and managing site traffic during equipment movements
Maintain accurate records of traffic management activities, incidents, and site inspections

Requirements

Proven experience in construction site management or traffic control roles with a focus on safety protocols
Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, front loader truck, dump truck, and paving machinery
Knowledge of construction processes including utility locating and site safety standards
Ability to operate or understand the operation of Caterpillar heavy equipment is a plus
Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and external agencies
Valid certifications in traffic control or flagging are preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected
Prior experience working on construction sites or in utility projects is highly desirable
