Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Instructional Designer to develop engaging and effective learning experiences. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational and professional development programs for REALTOR® members. Guided by the RAE Strategic Plan and the proposed Professionalism Education Strategy, the Instructional Designer creates eLearning, instructor-led, virtual, hybrid, and blended learning experiences that support professionalism, competence, consumer protection, and public trust.
The position provides dedicated instructional design capacity to support new and updated learning products while maintaining existing education commitments. The role works closely with internal subject matter experts and external partners to create practical, scenario-based learning experiences that address member needs and industry priorities.
The role requires strong instructional design, adult learning, project management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
Instructional Design and Course Development
- Design, develop, update, and maintain eLearning, instructor-led, virtual, hybrid, and blended learning programs.
- Create storyboards, learning activities, assessments, facilitator guides, participant resources, and job aids.
- Publish and maintain educational content within the LMS.
- Apply adult learning best practices to support learner engagement, knowledge retention, and practical application.
- Apply accessibility and inclusive design principles to support learner participation and usability.
- Ensure educational content remains current, accurate, accessible, written in plain language, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Professionalism Education Strategy Support
- Develop learning products that support professionalism themes including ethics, professional conduct, civility, consumer protection, public trust, competence, professional standards, technology, and AI responsibility.
- Support professionalism refreshers, elective pathways, and remediation learning through practical, scenario-based design.
- Support approved Professional Development learning priorities, including professionalism-related course development and updates.
Project Management and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Manage multiple course development projects through the instructional design lifecycle, including needs assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate project timelines, reviews, approvals, pilots, launches, and revisions.
- Work with subject matter experts and internal departments to identify learning needs, performance gaps, and practical solutions.
Learning Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Develop course evaluation tools and assessment strategies.
- Review learner feedback, completion data, and course outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend course updates based on member feedback, regulatory changes, complaint trends, and industry developments.
- Maintain course documentation, version history, and approval records for assigned learning products.
Department Support
- Support the planning and coordination of educational programs, staff training, and related departmental initiatives.
- Contribute to annual planning, special projects, and departmental goals.
External Vendor and Content Management
- Assist with identifying, evaluating, and coordinating external educational content, course developers, and professional speakers.
- Coordinate with third-party course developers and subject matter experts when external development is approved.
- Ensure outsourced content aligns with RAE standards, learning objectives, and member needs.
Experience
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certification in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Communications, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, adult education, learning and development, or related field.
- Experience building eLearning using Articulate Storyline, Rise360, Vyond, or similar authoring tools.
- Experience administering or working within a Learning Management System (LMS), such as Docebo.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and related learning and development practices; a professional designation in these areas is considered an asset.
- Excellent written communication, editing, project management, organizational, and Microsoft 365 skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
