We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Fleet & Vehicle Manager to join our Equipment team in British Columbia. Reporting to the Equipment Director, the Fleet & Vehicle Manager leads the development and execution of a centralized fleet management function across Norland’s operations. The role oversees the full lifecycle of approximately 500 vehicles, trailers, and road-insured towable equipment across BC and Alberta.
This hands-on leader designs systems, manages vendor relationships, and implements policies, compliance, and safety programs, serving as the organization’s primary authority on all fleet-related matters while driving efficiency, compliance, and cost-effective asset management.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Full fleet lifecycle management: procurement through national lease providers and vendors, upfitting to standardized role-based specifications, reallocation between drivers and business units, lease-end buyout/return decisions, and the asset disposal process

Develop and maintain a company-wide Vehicle Catalogue: role-based vehicle and upfit specifications for every driver role at Norland

Fleet-wide rollout and ongoing management of telematics across all business units

Fleet-wide rollout of centralized service fuel cards and active monthly exception monitoring

Evaluation and implementation of fleet management software with the support of IT and Procurement

Maintenance coordination across all business locations.

Trailer and towable equipment management — registration, road insurance, and CVIP for all road-operated assets

Commercial auto insurance management — fleet list currency, renewals, and claims coordination

NSC carrier compliance program — Safety Fitness Certificate, Driver Qualification Files, Vehicle Maintenance Program documentation, Hours of Service

CVSE compliance — CVIP currency for all commercial units, DEC response protocols, carrier profile management

Driver compliance, fleet onboarding packages, infraction and telematic behaviour communication to the Business Unit management.

Monthly fleet dashboard and reporting to the Equipment Director

Fleet budget development, hours reporting and vehicle charge-out rate monitoring
Qualifications & Skills:
Requirements
-
3-5+ years of fleet management or fleet coordination experience, ideally in heavy civil construction, resource industries, utilities, or municipal fleet

Working knowledge of BC and/or Alberta NSC carrier obligations — Safety Fitness Certificate, driver qualification, VMP, HOS
-
Familiarity with CVSE enforcement processes and commercial vehicle compliance in BC and/or Alberta

Experience with telematics platforms

Comfort with fleet management software (Fleetio, AssetWorks, or equivalent)

Experience managing leased vehicle programs — operating lease models, Foss National or equivalent

ICBC fleet account management experience or equivalent provincial commercial auto insurance

Strong administrative discipline — this role manages a high volume of concurrent compliance obligations

Ability to lead through influence, ensuring managers, drivers, and vendors adhere to standards

Valid driver's licence and driver’s abstract both in good standing; ability to travel to regional locations quarterly

Compensation:
The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical starting salary range of $98,600 to $135,600 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
